Secrecy Around Today’s Jan. 6 Hearing Due To ‘Massive Security Threats’ Related To Marjorie Greene: Report

If you were wondering why the January 6 House Select Committee has been so very hush-hush about its last-minute hearing later this afternoon, we now know that it has something to do with “massive security threats” related to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), according to Jacqueline Alemany of the Washington Post.

Alemany was a guest on MSNBC this morning and revealed what she had learned from sources on Capitol Hill regarding Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, who will testify today and why there’s so much cloak and dagger from the Jan. 6 panel:

“We have heard actually that some of the, as you just read, that the reason why her testimony has been so closely guarded is because of massive security threats in the last hearing. She did say, reveal, that [Rep.] Marjorie Taylor Greene, she heard Marjorie Taylor Greene asked for a pardon, and you can only imagine what that does in terms of elevating her name and potentially causing far-right extremists to levy some of these credible threats that have come her way.”

Greene wasn’t the only Republican who was seeking a pardon in the final days of the Trump administration. The others we know about thanks to Hutchinson are Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Mo Brooks (R-AL), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Louie Gohmert (R-TX), and Scott Perry (R-PA).

Alemany also compared Hutchinson’s Tuesday testimony to a well-known figure from the Watergate scandal which led to the resignation of Richard Nixon:

“We have had people previously tell us that if there is anyone going to be the John Dean of this investigation, Cassidy Hutchinson is the person who is the most likely to be that person in terms of her access to the top figures in Trump’s orbit and her proximity to the former president and what she was able to overhear, the people in and out of the Oval Office on Jan. 6. But it is important to note we’re not sure there’s another witness corroborating her testimony today. There was clearly a sensitivity and urgency to her testifying today, and you’ve got to think that it’s in part due to the security concerns, but also because they’re worried she might potentially back out. This is not a small thing for this individual to come forward, put her career on the line.”

The Post reporter concluded by noting:

“Obviously she’s being compelled, there are subpoenas at play. Several individuals like Bill Stepien who didn’t appear were subpoenaed to appear, but this is a big thing for her. She’s in her 20s, she’s a young person with, you know, little institutional support in terms of the other people she used to work with cooperating with this investigation.”

Aide To Mark Meadows Directly Implicates ‘Several’ Members Of Congress In Attempted Election Coup

Today’s public hearing of the January 6 House Select Committee expanded the conspiracy that had already been laid out in previous hearings, and we learned that Republican members of Congress were indeed part of the conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Cassidy Hutchinson was a top aide to former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, and the committee played portions of her videotaped testimony in which she named Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and “several members of Congress” who in late November and early December took part in a plan to draw up a slate of alternate electors who would go against the will of the voters and suggest that failed former president Donald Trump should remain in office.

Several members of Congress. Who might they be? We don’t know yet, and Hutchinson didn’t name them in the portion of her testimony that was broadcast today. But the fact there are multiple Republicans tells us that we do indeed have a conspiracy to commit a criminal act against the United States, which is a very serious offense.

The House Select Committee knows the names, and it’s safe to bet they will be laying them out in the days ahead or in their final report, which will be released before the midterm elections in November.

Just for fun, let’s speculate who might be on that list of “several.”

  • Rep. Jim Jordan (OH)
  • Rep. Andy Biggs (AZ)
  • Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA)
  • Sen. Ted Cruz (TX)
  • Sen. Josh Hawley (MO)

Once those names are made public, criminal referrals can be made to the Justice Department, provided they haven’t already been.

There’s going to be some sleepless nights ahead for several in the GOP.

Lauren Boebert Publicly Prays For Joe Biden To Die – And Gets Cheered By Fake Christians

On Saturday, as she spoke to a group of so-called “Christians” in Colorado Springs, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) proudly announced that she prays for President Joe Biden each and every day. She then added that she prays he’ll drop dead.

Newsweek reports that video of Boebert’s remarks has quickly gone viral:

Speaking on Saturday at the Charis Christian Center Family Camp Meeting in Colorado, where she was a guest speaker, the Republican politician referred to bible verse Psalms 109:8 as she spoke about the 79-year-old Biden, much to the delight of the crowd. The video has so far been viewed over 480,000 times on Twitter.

Here’s what Boebert said:

“I do want you to know that I pray for our President. Psalm 109:8 says, ‘May his days be few and another take his office.'”

The roomful of fake Christians began cheering in response to what Boebert said, so she added:

“Hallelujah! Glory to God.”

It probably won’t surprise you to learn that this isn’t the first time a Republican has used Psalm 109:8 as a death wish on a president.

In 2016, then-Sen. David Perdue also called for President Barack Obama’s time in office to be brief, according to Business Insider:

“In his role as president, I think we should pray for Barack Obama. But I think we need to be very specific about how we pray. We should pray like Psalms 109:8 says. It says, ‘Let his days be few, and let another have his office,'” Perdue said at the time.

In a perfect example of karma, Perdue lost his senate seat in the 2020 election.

Reaction to Boebert’s hateful remarks on social media was swift:

If Lauren Boebert is a Christian (she most definitely isn’t) then personally I think I’d rather wind up in hell.

Legal Experts: Marjorie Taylor Greene Committed Perjury Numerous Times Today

Today in Atlanta, an administrative hearing was held to determine if Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is indeed an insurrectionist and should be removed from the November ballot.

On dozens of occasions, Greene said she didn’t remember or didn’t recall when she was asked questions by an attorney representing Free Speech for People and voters in Greene’s congressional district who brought the challenge to her candidacy as she seeks reelection.

According to the Washington Post:

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, testifying Friday about her alleged role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol as part of a case seeking to disqualify her from seeking reelection, said she could not remember whether she urged President Donald Trump to impose martial law as a way to remain in power.

“I don’t recall,” Greene (R-Ga.) said in response to questioning by an attorney representing the plaintiffs in the case.

“So you’re not denying you did it?” asked the attorney, Andrew G. Celli Jr. “You just don’t remember.”

“I don’t remember,” Greene replied.

Unfortunately for Greene, however, she didn’t maintain that lack of recall when it came to all of the questions she was asked, and that led her to commit perjury on numerous occasions, according to legal experts who watched the congresswoman’s testimony.

The most egregious examples of Greene allegdly lying under oath were when she was asked about postings made on her social media accounts, insisting that she didn’t remember certain tweets in which she called for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to be killed.

Minutes later, however, Greene suddenly had perfect recall and was able to remember things she had posted online. So was the she lying when she didn’t recall or when she did? Either way, she lied under oath, which is a crime and set off calls for her to be prosecuted for perjury.

Elie Mystal of The Nation wondered, “Who is handling the upcoming MTG perjury prosecution?”

Others also had thoughts on the lies Greene allegedly told while under oath:

FYI: Perjury is a felony in the state of Georgia and is punishable by a fine of $1,000 or by a prison term between 1 and 10 years, or both.

Margie better hope she has a damn good attorney on retainer.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Just Directly Threatened Black Female Democrats

Now that it’s becoming clear she may be disqualified from the November midterm ballot and also face criminal charges for her part in the January 6 Capitol insurrection, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is lashing out and even going so far as to threaten some female Democrats who just so happen to be black.

During an appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show Monday evening, Greene whined about a legal challenge filed which would keep her from holding elected office under a clause found in the 14th Amendment which says no person is allowed to be a member of Congress who “shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.”

Carlson began the interview with the Georgia Republican by remarking:

“They are just trying to take their opponents off the ballot. They are attacking democracy.”

That was all Greene needed to go off on a rant:

“They look down on them because they voted for me and sent me to Washington to fight for the things that most Americans care about, like secure borders, stopping abortion, protecting our Second Amendment, stopping the out-of-control spending in Washington, stop funding never-ending foreign wars.”

She then proceeded to lay out a vast conspiracy that she claims has been launched against her:

“Now the progressives, the people that donate, the dark money groups, the 501(c)(3)s and the foundations, they have hired some attorneys from New York who hate the people in my district and don’t believe they should have the right to elect who they want to send to Washington, which is me.”

Greene added:

“Now they have filed a lawsuit because they are trying to rip my name off the ballot and steal my district’s ability to re-elect me and send me back to Congress.”

Yes, because you encouraged and supported an insurrection against the U.S. government! That’s a disqualifying act!

But it was what Greene said next that certainly sounds like a direct threat to some top Democrats:

“If you can challenge any representative’s candidacy or an elected officeholder, I bet you we could round up some Republican voters who didn’t like Kamala Harris funding rioters, criminal rioters out of jail or Ilhan Omar or Cori Bush or Maxine Waters inciting riots. I think there is another way to play this game.”

Greene doesn’t deserve to hold office. She gave up that right by being part of a coup attempt. And if he can be proven that she broke any federal laws, she should also be prosecuted and sent to prison.
