The Man Donald Trump Wanted To See Hang Is Now Praying He Won’t Be Indicted

Now that his former boss is just days away from being indicted in Manhattan for paying illegal hush money to a woman in violation of New York election law, former Vice President Mike Pence is saying he hopes Donald Trump isn’t indicted by Manhattan by Attorney General Alvin Bragg next week.

At an Iowa even, according to Mediaite, Pence was asked his thoughts on the possible indictment of Trump. He responded:

“Here we go again. Another politically charged prosecution against the former president of the United States.”

Pence added, “The idea of indicting a president of the United States is deeply troubling to me as it is to tens of millions of Americans – and particularly happening in what appears to be a politically charged environment in New York where the attorney general and other elected officials literally campaigned on a pledge to prosecute the former president.”

So even though Trump said the Jan. 6 protesters who chanted “Hang Mike Pence!” were probably right, Pence is now defending the failed former president.

According to former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, here’s what Trump said when he heard the chants to murder his VP:

Describing events at the White House on the afternoon of 6 January 2021, Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to Trump and his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, said: “I remember Pat [Cipollone, the White House counsel] saying something to the effect of, ‘Mark, we need to do something more. They’re literally calling for the vice-president to be fucking hung.’

“And Mark had responded something to the effect of, ‘You heard him, Pat, he thinks Mike deserves it. He doesn’t think they’re doing anything wrong.’

If you were wondering whether Trump is the head of a death cult instead of a political party, look no further than Pence’s comments today.

Kevin McCarthy Orders House Committees To Run Interference For Trump If He’s Indicted

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said Saturday that if former president Donald Trump is indicted next week in Manhattan as expected, he wants the relevant House committees to “immediately” determine if any federal funds have been used to investigate the failed ex-president.

McCarthy made his intentions clear via a posting on Twitter.

“Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump. I’m directing relevant committees to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions.”

McCarthy’s comments came just hours after Trump went on an unhinged rant, with his post made on the failing Truth Social site.

“NOW ILLEGAL LEAKS FROM A CORRUPT & HIGHLY POLITICAL MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE, WHICH HAS ALLOWED NEW RECORDS TO BE SET IN VIOLENT CRIME & WHOSE LEADER IS FUNDED BY GEORGE SOROS, INDICATE THAT, WITH NO CRIME BEING ABLE TO BE PROVEN, & BASED ON AN OLD & FULLY DEBUNKED (BY NUMEROUS OTHER PROSECUTORS!) FAIRYTALE, THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”

McCarthy’s comments drew a sharp response from presidential historian Michael Beschloss, who noted, “This almost disgraceful tweet that Kevin McCarthy has put out and I don’t use that word often to describe speakers of the House. He is interfering with the process of the rule of law; this is a duly elected D.A. in New York who we don’t even know what’s going to happen yet or what the grand jury is going to do. But the speaker of the House has absolutely no business interfering with this process, siding with one side, Donald Trump’s side, and also saying that he is going to investigate the use of federal funds to interfere.”

Beschloss continued:

“We don’t know what’s going to happen yet so, you have an ex-president calling for a protest we now know could turn into violence, as it did on the 6th of January, 2021. Hordes invaded the Capitol, we were in danger of killing the vice president, killing the speaker of the House, other members of the congress, the defiling of the House and Senate chambers. That’s what happened that day. But at least, as horrible as that was, you and I talked about it that day, at least you had a speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, where we could be sure that she would do her best to try to protect the Capitol against violent attack. After this statement by Kevin McCarthy, we have no such reassurance.”

Kellyanne Conway’s Daughter Is Masterfully Trolling The GOP With Twitter Polls

Claudia Conway is the daughter of former Trump administration adviser Kellyanne “Alternate Facts” Conway, but based on posts she’s made on social media recently, it’s clear that Claudia doesn’t share her mother’s right-wing political bent.

In a interview with Bustle last year, the young Ms. Conway expressed her disgust for conservative policies:

Over the summer, after Roe v. Wade was overturned, Claudia helped organize protests in support of abortion rights. Her friend Jamil Mouehla, a Bates College sophomore who co-organized one such rally with her in Englewood, New Jersey, says she is a commanding presence on the ground. “Claudia, she’s not scared,” he says. “She’s not tall, but her voice is loud. Screaming into the microphone, echoing things, I was like, ‘Wow — that’s powerful.’”

[…]

Despite her strong stances, Claudia doesn’t claim a political label outside of describing her views as left-leaning; she’s registered as an independent. When she talks about voting, it’s the one time in our conversation where she actually sounds a little like, well, a politician. “I certainly won’t be voting for any Republican candidates. But that being said, I think it’s really, really important, especially for young voters to keep an open mind and to really do the research,” she says. “Vote for those who you think are really going to make a change, really going to implement the changes that you want to see in your community, in your district, in your county, in your state, and in your country.”

And now Claudia is trolling the hell out of prominent Republicans with Twitter polls she created and posted online.

First up for mocking: Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, who declared last year that when M&M paused the use of its mascot a “sign of the apocalypse.”

That led Claudia to ask Twitter users:

Next we have Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who made a mercifully brief appearance on “Dancing With the Stars” before he was voted off.

Or perhaps you prefer Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) in a race against Harry Potter.

Well done, Claudia! Please keep making social media fun and trolling the right-wingers with satire.

Michelle Obama Lays A Hilarious Fact-Check On Trump For One Of His Biggest Lies

Former First Lady Michelle Obama says she can verify that the crowd for Donald Trump’s inauguration in January of 2017 was indeed tiny, and all of the “alternative facts” in the world can’t change that fact.

On the latest episode of “Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast,” Mrs. Obama recalls what it was like to leave the White House after her husband had been president for eight years, according to The Washington Post.

“We were leaving the home we had been in for eight years, the only home our kids really knew,” Obama says of her daughters, Malia and Sasha. “They remembered Chicago, but they had spent more time in the White House than anywhere, so we were saying goodbye to the staff and all the people who helped to raise them.”

Arriving at Trump’s inauguration, Obama said, was very disappointing.

“To sit on that stage and watch the opposite of what we represented on display — there was no diversity, there was no color on that stage. … But you had to hold it together like you do for eight years.”

The former first lady then noted just how sparse the attendance was for Trump’s swearing in:

“You walk through the Capitol, you wave goodbye, you get on Marine One, and you take your last flight flying over the Capitol, where there weren’t that many people there — we saw it, by the way.”

You probably recall that numerous Trump administration officials claimed, as then-press secretary Sean Spicer incorrectly asserted, it was “the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration — period — both in person and around the globe.”

The largest audience to ever witness an inauguration was probably in 2009, when Barack Obama was sworn in for the first time, the only African-American in U.S. history to ever be elected to the office of the presidency.

‘National Security Risk’ Greene Exposes Classified Info At Wednesday House Hearing: Video

Proving that she remains just as much of a national security risk as she was on January 6, 2021, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) blurted out classified information during a Wednesday hearing on the border.

The hearing, which was held in Texas so that Congressional Republicans could have a photo op and pretend to give a damn about anything but scoring political points, featured testimony from U.S. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz, who was asked by Greene about explosives found on the U.S.-Mexico border.

“Chief Ortiz, are you aware that there was an explosive device found by Border Patrol agents on January 17th in an area called No Man’s Land, and there’s surveillance of who put it there? And guess what? It wasn’t Americans; it was cartels. Are you aware of that?”

Ortiz replied:

“I will tell you that some of this information that I receive, I receive in a confidential [sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF)], so I’m going to be a little hesitant of briefing what I know and what I don’t know with respect to some of those, an event like that.”

Undeterred by that warning, Greene bulldozed ahead like the loose cannon she always has and will be.

“I understand, Chief Ortiz, but I’m not going to be confidential because I think people deserve to know,” Greene huffed. “Our Border Patrol agents should not be in those type of conditions where they are at risk of being blown to pieces by the cartels, who, by the way, are criminals, and they should be treated as such.”

“As a matter of fact, I’ve co-sponsored legislation to declare war on the cartels because they are definitely declaring war on us, the American people, and our Border Patrol agents, and I’ve had enough of it, and I know Americans have had enough of it.”
