Minnesota Democratic Sen. Tina Smith is fed up with the way unelected president Elon Musk is interfering with the operation of the federal government, and she’s putting him on notice with comments she made about his most recent “order” to government employees.
On Saturday, Musk sent an email out in which he demanded that workers employed by the United States answer this question: “What did you do last week?” The email also instructed government employees to list “5 bullets of what you accomplished last week and cc your manager.”
Musk shared his demand on Twitter:
Sen. Smith lit into Musk, writing, “This is the ultimate dick boss move from Musk – except he isn’t even the boss, he’s just a dick.”
But the senator was just getting warmed up.
“I bet a lot of people have had an experience like this with a bad boss – there’s an email in your inbox on Saturday night saying, ‘Prove to me your worthiness by Monday or else.’ I’m on the side of the workers, not the billionaire asshole,” she added.
While Musk may think he’s running things in Washington, D.C., plenty of government agencies told him to go kick rocks because their employees were not required to submit a damn thing to him.
Secretary of Defense Pete “Three Sheets to the Wind” Hegseth replied via his department’s Twitter account:
The FBI also told its workers to ignore Musk, according to Newsweek.
“‘For now, please pause any responses,’ reads a message sent by Patel on Saturday to all FBI personnel, calling for employees to wait for a coordinated response from the bureau.”
It certainly seems like Musk has overstepped his bounds. Now if only his chief benefactor, Felon-in-Chief Donald Trump, would also call him out and tell him to stand down.
Of course, we won’t hold our breath waiting for that to happen. After all, Musk spent nearly $300 million to get Donnie elected.
