Author Stephen King Responds After Florida Bans 23 Of His Books

It’s safe to say that Stephen King is one of the most well-known and widely read novelists in the world. Many of his books have been made into blockbuster movies, and he has sold more than 400 million copies of his work across the globe.

But if you happen to be a student in Florida, you may never get to read one of King’s books, because the state has just banned 23 of his most famous tomes from schools in the Sunshine State.

King’s books have been pulled from library shelves as the result of a 2022 law passed by the GOP-controlled state legislature and signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), according to Newsweek.

“The decision was driven by complaints from groups like Moms for Liberty. Republicans, including DeSantis, have said the legislation prevents students from obtaining books that are not age-appropriate, but critics view the law as an attempt to stifle discussion about issues including race and the LGBTQ+ community in public schools, raising concerns that this law may censor many topics.”

King is getting support to overturn the 2022 book-banning law from six book publishers, but he also decided to express his own disdain for what’s taking place in Florida in a post on Twitter/X that has been viewed several million times.

Others also joined the online debate and expressed their outrage over the blatant censorship being imposed by Florida.

Trump Urges GOP To Shut Down The Federal Government Just Weeks Before 2024 Election

Perhaps sensing that he’s on the verge of losing the 2024 presidential election in humiliating fashion to Vice President Kamala Harris, failed one-term, twice-impeached former president Donald Trump is now urging his Republican allies to shut down the federal government shortly before voters go to the polls in November.

Speaking with Monica Crowley on her podcast, HuffPost reports, Trump insisted that the GOP needs to either force Democrats to support legislation barring non-US citizens from voting or refuse to pass funding that would keep the government open.

“I would shut down the government in a heartbeat if they don’t get it and if they don’t get it in the bill,” Trump declared.

Since it’s already a federal crime for noncitizens to vote, it’s unclear why another law is needed.

Trump added that Republicans should also add language to the spending bill that would severely restrict legal immigration to the United States.

“If they don’t get these bills, they should close it down, and Republicans should not approve it.”

Despite the disgraced ex-president’s call for a government shutdown, it doesn’t appear there’s a lot of GOP support for such a move, which could backfire and cause voters to cast their ballots for Democrats in response to government gridlock, the report adds.

“The Freedom Caucus doesn’t have enough members to actually block a clean government funding bill, which would likely pass the House with lots of support from Democrats and Republicans alike. Trump’s support for the SAVE Act could sway some Republicans, but House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), who also supports the measure, hasn’t said he would insist on it in a funding bill.”

Additonally, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is also said to be working behind the scenes to get his House GOP colleagues to avoid any sort of government shutdown.

Sounds like Donald Trump is going to lose twice in the coming months. But he should be used to that by now. After all, he’s been a loser his entire life.

Hulk Hogan Flashes Racist Gesture And Threatens To ‘Body-Slam’ Kamala Harris

Washed-up professional wrestler Hulk Hogan made a complete horse’s ass out of himself at last month’s Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, ripping off his shirt and declaring it was time to “let Trumpmania run wild,” leaving some in the audience to suggest that it was inappropriate to have such a spectacle at a political convention.

And now Hogan could be in serious trouble with the U.S. Secret Service for remarks he made in Ohio on Monday evening, Mediaite reports.

During an event in Medina, Ohio to promote his new Real American Beer, Hogan called out to the crowd, “You want me to body slam somebody? You want me to body-slam Kamala Harris? I said, do you want me to body slam Kamala Harris?! You want me to drop the leg on Kamala?”

He continued, “Is Kamala a chameleon? Is she Indian?” before raising his left hand and saying, “How,” in imitation of a stereotypical native American, or “American Indian.”

Seconds later, Hogan admitted his comments might not have been such a good idea.

“I’m gonna get heat for that one, brother. That was not me, that was the beers talking.”

Hogan might want to go ahead and clear some space on his schedule for the next few days because he could be getting a visit from federal authorities, who are already on alert after a man took shots at failed former president Donald Trump on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania.

This isn’t the first time Hogan has proven his bigot bonafides.

In 2020, he was banned from All-Elite Wrestling (AEW), according to Forbes.

“Though it wasn’t explicitly expressed in the tweet, Hogan’s banishment from AEW likely stems from a series of racist comments he made on tape in 2015. Hogan was fired from WWE and wiped from its Hall of Fame before awkwardly rejoining the company in 2018. Hogan’s return to WWE was accompanied by an ill-fated plea for forgiveness from the WWE locker room. The stunt did not go well, resulting in public criticism from too-good-for-WWE Superstar and philanthropist Titus O’Neil.”

Megyn Kelly Gets Dragged Online For Her ‘Racist’ Reaction To DNC Speech

Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly found out the hard way Monday evening that sometimes it’s better to remain silent than speak and let the internet know what a racist sack of human dung you are.

Reacting to a speech from Sen. Laphonza Butler (D-CA) at the opening night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention in which Butler noted that both she and Vice President Kamala Harris had graduated from historically black colleges, Kelly posted this on Twitter:

“Laphonza Butler spkg – (she filled Feinstein’s seat) – celebrating that she and Harris both graduated from historically black colleges. Imagine the white person up there: I’m proud to tell you I went to a mostly white university!”

Of course, if Kelly knew a damn thing about American history, she’d know why black colleges and universities were created in the first place, as the Thurgood Marshall College Fund notes on their website:

“Black students were unwelcome at existing public and private institutions of higher education (IHEs), even after the passing of specific legislation, resulting in a lack of higher education opportunities.”

Kelly was then dragged on social media.

Clueless Trump Happily Accepts A Bogus Endorsement From A Fake Taylor Swift

Failed one-term, twice-impeached, and multiply-convicted ex-president Donald Trump was delighted when he ran across what he thought was an endorsement from a group claiming to be fans of pop star Taylor Swift.

According to USA Today:

Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social and posted several suspected artificial intelligence-generated images alluding to Taylor Swift and Swifties’ support for his campaign, despite the singer vocalizing disdain for the Republican nominee in the past.

“Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump,” reads one generated image of Swift as Uncle Sam, while another seemingly AI image, marked as satire, reads, “Swifties turning to Trump after ISIS foiled Taylor Swift concert.” The image references a suspected terrorist plot planned for Swift’s Vienna concert earlier this month. Austrian authorities, with help from U.S. officials, thwarted the attack.

The pictures include artificially generated images and potentially one real photo of Swifties for Trump supporters, akin to the real group MAGA Swifties.

Swift, the biggest name in modern music, endorsed President Joe Biden four years ago and is expected to do the same for Vice President Kamala Harris. No timeline has been set for when Swift will make such an annoucement, but there are rumors it could happen at this week’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago. There have also been hints that Swift might perform at the convention, though those have yet to be confirmed.

For now, the disgraced ex-president will have to settle for Kid Rock.
