Trump’s First Policy Moves May Destroy His Presidency

As he begins preparations for his second term in office, Donald Trump is facing a dilemma that could doom his presidency immediately, leading to a collapse of his administration and a massive blowback from voters.

That’s the warning from Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post, who notes that Trump and his top advisers are in a no-win situation.

“He could, for example, enact draconian, across-the-board tariffs; begin massive roundups and deportations of law-abiding ‘dreamers;’ repeal the Affordable Care Act and major bipartisan legislation passed under President Joe Biden; and enact a new round of massive tax cuts for big corporations and wealthy individuals.”

However, if that’s the road Trump chooses to take, he would “make himself extremely unpopular, induce economic and social chaos, and create political problems for his party in the 2026 midterms,” Rubin adds.

Keep in mind that Trump tried to repeal the Affordable Care Act in 2017. That led to the GOP losing badly in the 2018 midterm elections.

The very same thing could happen again, this time with the issue of immigration, Rubin continues.

“Nothing was as near and dear to the hearts of legions of white supremacists and aggrieved MAGA supporters looking for a scapegoat for their economic ills.

“That said, the price tag could be in the hundreds of billions; a dragnet of this size would require a sweeping police state, deprive Americans of millions of workers, upset economic progress, and create images as devastating as those we saw during the child separation debacle (which, if you recall, he eventually had to abandon).”

However, the immigration issue is a major priority for many hardliners in the Republican Party, meaning Trump will have no choice but to start down a path that could quickly backfire on him.

Rubin explains: “A false start and failure could well color the remainder of his presidency, leaving him politically weakened, reviled, and coping with a self-made economic crisis.”

There’s also the matter of tariffs, which could send the U.S. economy into a tailspin.

“Trump can choose to follow his radical ideological backers or he can choose to be politically and economically successful. He cannot do both,” Rubin concludes.

Given that Trump has never been good at making the right choices when it comes to governing and building coalitions, the chances of his self-immolation would appear almost guaranteed.

Historian: Elon Musk Will Soon Be ‘Casually Discarded’ By Egotistical Trump

Even though he donated untold millions of dollars to get Donald Trump elected for the second time, Twitter CEO Elon Musk is about to be unceremoniously thrown overboard by the incoming president, according to a historian, because Trump is not about to share the spotlight with anyone. His massive ego won’t him.

In an article published by the New York Times, David Nasaw predicts Musk’s shelflife as an influencer to the Trump administration will be brief.

“Mr. Trump may be mercurial, but in this situation he is highly unlikely to break historical precedent,” Nassaw notes. “I predict that you will probably join the long list of genius businessmen donors who were casually discarded after they had served their purpose.”

Another reason for Musk’s fading influence is that his promise of cutting trillions from the federal budget would cause an economic meltdown and likely throw the United States into a second Great Depression. That would be political suicide for Trump and the GOP.

“I’m not sure what you were thinking — or if you were thinking — when you clambered on that Madison Square Garden stage and claimed that as chief of the Department of Government Efficiency… you would cut at least $2 trillion of government spending,” Nasaw writes. “The results of such a gutting would, even conservative think-tank analysts predicted, be catastrophic. It is nearly impossible to imagine a majority of Republican lawmakers endorsing your plans to slash a third of all federal spending. To do so would be political suicide.”

So what exactly does Musk get out of his alliance with Trump? More money, of course, as Nasaw predicts his investments — especially Twitter/X — will increase in value, adding to his already massive fortune.

Then again, maybe that was Musk’s plan all along.

Jim Jordan Whines When Asked Why The 2020 Election Was Fraudulent But 2024 Is Copacetic

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) failed to explain why he thought the 2020 election had been “rigged” but 2024 was free of any interference when asked about it on CNN this morning, instead whining and trying to downplay all of Donald Trump’s discredited conspiracy theories of why he lost to President Joe Biden four years ago.

CNN host Dana Bash began by telling Jordan, “In the run-up to the election, even on election night itself, Donald Trump baselessly accused Democrats of cheating. As soon as the results started to come in and show it going his way he stopped – nothing about that. I haven’t seen you or your colleagues claiming any election irregularities , no rampant voting brought this time. It seems to me that Republicans claim voting fraud and election integrity when you lose and not when you win.”

“No, I mean, again, as I said before, this election I think was the greatest political comeback we’ve ever seen,” Jordan replied with a shit-eating grin on his face. “He [Trump] did something that even Teddy Roosevelt could not do for goodness sake and the country–“

“But you think it was a free and fair election?” Bash asked.

Rather than respond, Jordan said he had seen an interview with a Latino voter who said he had cast his ballot for Trump because he didn’t think Democrats cared about people like him.

“But last time around he claimed –– your leader claimed that there were problems with fraud.”

When Jordan attempted to talk over the host, she continued to press.

“But last time around it wasn’t so much about the policy differences or the personality differences, there were false claims about election fraud when Donald Trump lost. This time Donald Trump won and you think the election was free and fair. You see there is a little bit –“

Jordan: “I think the Democrats have to ask why we go from getting anyone 81 million to 71 million. What happened to those 10 million people? Maybe it’s not smart to run an election where you have no policies.”

“Why was it different from 2020 when he lost? Is that the only difference?” Bash asked for a third time.

“There were concerns about 2020 with all the mail-in voting that happened in Pennsylvania, they came in without any signature verification which is required,” Jordan claimed. “There were all kinds of concerns with how the 2020 election was run but—”

“There was no widespread fraud,” Bash reminded the congressman, who could only smile like a demented fool.

So 2020 was a fraudulent election, but 2024 is perfect? What a crock of shit!

Ana Navarro Calls Elon Musk Trump’s ‘First Lady’ And Social Media Can’t Stop Laughing

CNN commentator Ana Navarro says Twitter CEO Elon Musk needs a new title after appearing in a family photo with Donald Trump and his family at Mar-a-Lago.

Navarro’s remarks came after host Anderson Cooper reported that Musk was on a phone call Trump made to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this week, according to Mediaite.

“What do you make of him joining this call?” Anderson Cooper asked.

GOP strategist Scott Jennings replied, “That doesn’t surprise me at all. Of course, Donald Trump can put anyone on the phone that he wants. I mean, I assume a lot of these calls are congratulatory in nature. So, as further, more policy-driven calls take place, I would expect there to be other policy and administration officials or designated officials on the calls. But at some juncture, Trump won, and he’s got a cadre of advisers that’s obviously gonna include Elon Musk. And so, I don’t think anybody should be surprised by this or alarmed by it either way.”

Navarro agreed that the call was nothing odd but then referenced the photo that didn’t contain Melania Trump but did feature Musk.

“I think it’s a little weird, right? I mean, Elon Musk seems to be everywhere at all times. He’s like, secretary of everything, and at the same time, he’s like First Lady. The other day I saw this picture of him. It was a picture of Trump with his entire family except Melania, but Elon Musk was there. And now you hear about this. There’s obviously also conflicts of interest. This is somebody who has contracts with the Department of Defense. This is somebody who has Starlink that’s a big part of what’s going on in Ukraine.”

“I find it a little weird. But as Scott said, they won. He gets to do whatever he wants, and if he wants Elon everywhere, all the time, that’s what’s going to happen.”

Navarro’s comments set off a wave of laughter and mockery on Musk’s social media site, which continues to lose millions of dollars.

Pentagon Preparing For Orders From Trump To Deploy Troops Against Americans

Officials at the Pentagon are currently holding high-level discussions about how the Department of Defense would respond if Donald Trump issues orders to deploy active-duty troops on the homeland as part of his mass deportation program and for “domestic law enforcement,” according to a disturbing report from CNN.

Officials are now gaming out various scenarios as they prepare for an overhaul of the Pentagon.

“We are all preparing and planning for the worst-case scenario, but the reality is that we don’t know how this is going to play out yet,” one defense official said.

Trump’s election has also raised questions inside the Pentagon about what would happen if the president issued an unlawful order, particularly if his political appointees inside the department don’t push back.

“Troops are compelled by law to disobey unlawful orders,” said another defense official. “But the question is what happens then – do we see resignations from senior military leaders? Or would they view that as abandoning their people?”

CNN’s Kristen Holmes told anchor Jake Tapper on Friday that Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Bill Hagerty (R-TN) are among the contenders for top cabinet posts at agencies such as the State Department and Defense. They are reportedly meeting with Trump team transition leaders, and the president-elect is also making calls as he firms up plans for who he will appoint to many key agencies and departments.

Consider for just a moment the specter of uniformed troops patrolling the streets of U.S. cities, demanding to see ID cards and detaining anyone who doesn’t have proper credentials. It’s the very same thing that has been done by repressive regimes throughout history, including in Nazi Germany and Mussolini’s Italy.

Is such a show of force meant to reassure us, or is it planned as part of a larger crackdown on all dissent against Trump? After all, this is a man who doesn’t take criticism well.

Here’s the video from CNN:
