Following his disastrous performance and interview with the National Association of Black Journalists on Wednesday, online chatter reached a fever pitch as thousands of commenters suggested that disgraced former president Donald Trump should withdraw from the 2024 race for the White House.
And that’s a possibility, according to someone who served in the Trump administration.
According to Newsweek, former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci weighed in on Twitter, predicting that Trump will abandon his bid for a second term in office.
“Not over yet. Trump may leave the race. Just watch his poll numbers plummet and see what happens,” Scaramucci posted.
“We fight tirelessly no matter what for Freedom, for the Republic, for the Democracy and to end the threat of Tyranny.”
He added: “Don’t be surprised if Donald Trump drops out of the race.”
What might prompt Trump to make such a drastic move? Well, he could have an undisclosed medical condition that is getting worse. But it’s more likely that the real motive would be his fear of losing the election to a black woman, Vice President Kamala Harris, who is surging in the polls and raising hundreds of millions of dollars for her campaign war chest.
And while Scaramucci’s suggestion is certainly thought-provoking, most respondents to his post said they seriously doubt Trump is going anywhere. Take a look:
