‘Sleepy Donald’ Gets Trolled For Dozing Off During Monday Court Appearance

It’s being called “the nap seen around the world,” even though the vast majority of us didn’t actually see it.

Reports began trickling out Monday morning from a Manhattan courthouse where the first day of a historic criminal trial began with failed former president Donald Trump as the defendant, accused of paying hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep an extramarital affair secret so as not to interfere with Trump’s 2016 bid for the White House.

Among the first who caught the disgraced ex-president nodding off was Maggie Haberman of the New York Times.

“Trump appears to be sleeping. His head keeps dropping down and his mouth goes slack,” Haberman wrote.

Minutes later, she added,  “Trump has apparently jolted back awake, noticing the notes his lawyer passed him several minutes ago.”

Photos taken before the judge entered the courtroom also showed a puffy-eyed Trump, seemingly lost in his own world.

As you can see from the hashtag, a new phrase began trending on social media, #SleepyDonald. And that set off a wave of mockery and trolling that reverberated for hours.

Stormy Daniels Lays A Wicked Burn On Trump As New York Hush Money Trial Looms

Today, the first criminal trial of a former U.S. president will get underway in a New York court and Donald Trump will face numerous charges for allegedly paying hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep an affair he had with her under wraps in the months before the 2016 election.

As the hour draws closer, supporters of the disgraced ex-president are attacking Daniels on social media, suggesting that she’s lying about her affair with Trump and that the trial is an attempt to damage his chances of winning a second term in office.

But while Daniels has been under fire online, she’s also been giving as good as she gets, firing back at the MAGA faithful with reminders that it’s Trump, not her, who allegedly broke the law and cheated on his spouse.

The Blast reports, “On Friday, Daniels came under fire by MAGA supporters after an account on X (formerly Twitter) shared a post from Trump regarding a resurfaced letter that was allegedly signed by her in 2018.”

In the letter, Daniels claimed to have never had any kind of sexual affair with the former president. It read, “Over the past few weeks I have been asked countless times to comment on reports of an alleged sexual relationship I had with Donald Trump many, many, many years ago.”

She added, “I am not denying this affair because I was paid ‘hush money’ as has been reported in overseas owned tabloids. I am denying this affair because it never happened.”

That led Trump acolytes to harass Daniels online, which they soon regretted doing. Take a look.

Daniels continued to counter the MAGA faithful , swatting them down when they came after her.

Former DOJ Official Has An Ironic Prediction For The Start Of Trump’s Next Trial

Next Monday, April 15 is one the least favorite days for most Americans: It’s Tax Day, meaning that our tax returns are due to the IRS.

April 15 is also the day that failed former president Donald Trump’s latest criminal trial is set to begin in Manhattan for his alleged hush money payments to Stormy Daniels.

And that, according to former acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal, is the ultimate irony when you consider that Trump has been avoiding payment of his taxes for decades.

Speaking with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki on Sunday, Katyal remarked, “As someone who actually pays his taxes, I’m glad to see April 15th actually having some consequence for Donald Trump.”

Katyal added that Trump’s move to have Judge Juan Merchan recuse himself will fail.

“His legal strategy is first lie, then deny, then delay. And we’re on the delay phase of this. It’s his last-ditch effort.”

In other words, Katyal continued, Trump is about have a very dubious historical first.

“I strongly suspect Donald Trump will be convicted at the end of that trial. That will be the first former president to be convicted criminally.”

Trump’s efforts to short-circuit the pending cases against him will also go nowhere, Katyal predicted.

“Legally, none of this is going anywhere. That’s the beauty of the American criminal justice system: It’s 12 jurors, it’s rules of evidence and the like, and these kinds of nonsense arguments will go nowhere,” he said. “That’s why I suspect he’ll be convicted.”

That includes the classified document case Trump faces, even though the judge in the case was appointed by the disgraced ex-president and has repeatedly ruled in his favor during pre-trial hearings.

“If it does go to trial, he’s gonna be convicted almost certainly there as well.”

A criminal conviction would almost certainly sink Trump’s bid for another term as president.

Just last month, Politico reported on a poll they conducted with Ipsos.

“More than a third of independents said a guilty verdict would make them less likely to support Trump’s candidacy. In a close race, that might matter.”

Former Prosecutor: FBI May Raid Trump Tower After Latest Revelations From Witness

FBI agents could well be on the verge of raiding Trump Tower in New York after the latest revelations from a witness that former president Donald Trump moved classified documents to his Manhattan skyscraper.

Newsweek reports that Neama Rahmani noted a Tuesday court filing suggesting that Trump kept presidential records at Trump Tower and his estate in Bedminster, New Jersey, may leave federal authorities with no other option other than a thorough search of the facilities.

“Prosecutors won’t know if classified documents still remain at Trump’s other homes unless they execute search warrants there,” Rahami explained.

Rahami added that she doesn’t think special prosecutor Jack Smith will take such an action this close to the election, but “that possibility exists, especially because Trump has failed to comply with lawfully issued subpoenas in the past.”

The court filing seems to confirm information provided to federal investigators by Trump’s former valet, Brian Butler, who says he helped the ex-president load boxes of documents onto the former president’s private plane in Florida which were then taken to New Jersey and New York.

“Butler told CNN last month that the plane was loaded on June 3, 2022, which was the same day Trump and his lawyer met with the Justice Department at Mar-a-Lago to discuss the missing classified documents.

“Butler said he later realized that the white boxes of documents were at the center of the federal indictment against Trump.”

The FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach in August of 2022 to retrieve classified information that was stored there in direct violation of U.S. law. Trump is now facing charges for allegedly possessing classified documents and obstructing investigators who attempted to locate them.

If convicted for illegally taking the documents, Trump faces 10 years in prison on each of the counts he’s charged with.

Legal Expert: Trump Has Already Turned Jurors Against Him With This One Action

Disgraced former president Donald Trump may have already turned jurors in his hush money trial against him and guaranteed they will find him guilty, according to a legal expert.

Appearing on MSNBC today, jury consultant David Henderson explained that while trials can be boring at times, falling asleep the way Trump reportedly did on Monday could seal his fate.

“People who show up for jury duty and stay, who don’t say ‘I can’t do this’ and look for the first opportunity to get out, what I found is when they show up, they’re wearing the nicest thing in their closet, thinking, ‘I made special arrangements to be here on time, I’m being polite, respectful, I’m making sure I’m paying attention,'” Henderson noted.

Henderson went on to add that jurors “don’t take kindly” to defendants who don’t take matters as seriously as they do.

“Now, I’ve seen lawyers fall asleep in court before. I’ve seen judges fall asleep in court before. I cannot recall a time I saw a defendant falling asleep in court before, because it is their life, and they got a lot on the line. What jurors are thinking is, ‘I’m staying awake; why isn’t this guy?’ It sends a very negative message that can directly affect the outcome of a trial.”

Asked about how attorneys choose jurors, Henderson said there’s a close. focus on each person’s body language, which can speak louder than what a prospective juror reveals verbally.

Here’s the video from MSNBC:
