Poll: 64% Of Americans Say They Won’t Vote For Trump In 2024

While his poll numbers among many in the GOP continue to rise with each indictment, failed and disgraced former president Donald Trump got some very bad news from an Associated Press poll.

While 63% of Republicans surveyed said they want the former president to run again, an increase of eight percentage points over the 55% who said so in the same poll taken in April, other voters were significantly less enthusiastic.

But in a crucial warning sign for the former president and his supporters, Trump faces glaring vulnerabilities heading into a general election, with many Americans strongly dug in against him. While most Republicans — 74% — say they would support him in November 2024, 53% of Americans say they would definitely not support him if he is the nominee. Another 11% say they would probably not support him in November 2024.

The comparison between Trump and President Joe Biden shows that Biden has greater party loyalty among Democrats, and the total number of those polled who said they definitely or probably not support the incumbent is currently at 54%, a 10-point differential for Biden, which could wind up being significant come Election Day 2024.

What do voters think about the recent indictment of Trump by the Department of Justice for his role in January 6, 2021 and efforts to overturn the 2020 election? 53% said they “approve of the Justice Department indicting Trump in the federal case that he worked to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.” 

It remains to be seen if Trump’s negative poll numbers will go lower once trials begin next year, but the current figures certainly suggest that at least six in ten of Americans have had enough of him.
