Eric Swalwell Links Boebert And Greene To The Highland Park Mass Shooting

Once again the United States is having to face a mass shooting that has horrified the nation and made us all feel less safe when we do something as innocuous as going to a grocery store, take our children to school, or attend a July 4th parade.

On Monday, Highland Park, Illinois became the latest location that will be forever associated with terror and violence when a shooter gunned down seven people and left another 31 wounded.

But rather than blame the easy availability of guns in this country at least in part for the scourge of shootings that continue to plague the U.S., many on the right have said we should blame video games, antidepressants, and “evil.”

Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) had this to say on the tragedy in Illinois:

Do you see any solutions to the problem of gun violence in those tweets? Of course not; they have none!

And yet both Boebert and Greene are big fans of posing with guns so they can pretend to be tough and appeal to the lowest common denominator in the GOP that demands unwavering support for the NRA and those who manufacture weapons of mass murder.

That led Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) to draw a line between the fetishization of weapons and the deadly shootings we see all around us, making his point on social media.

It didn’t take long before both Boebert and Greene confirmed that Swalwell had struck a nerve, and they began tweeting furiously in an attempt to draw attention away from their own complicity:

There’s a saying we have in the South that you may be familiar with, and it certainly applies in this instance, as the two congresswomen just proved: A hit dog always hollers. Isn’t that right, Lauren and Marjorie?
