Failed, one-term former President Donald Trump fully expects that he will be “reinstated” as head of state by no later than August, according to Maggie Haberman of the New York Times.
Haberman noted on Twitter that Trump is convinced the Arizona election “audit” currently taking place will prove that he was the rightful winner of the 2020 election:
Be sure and note that Trump’s obsession with being restored to the presidency comes at the same time that Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr. has ramped up his investigation of the former president, even going so far as to empanel a grand jury that will decide if there’s enough evidence to hand down indictments against Trump, members of his family, or top officials in the Trump Organization.
Just last week, we learned that Vance may also seek racketeering charges against Trump and his company:
“Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance could be considering a criminal charge that former President Donald Trump’s business empire was a corrupt enterprise under a New York law resembling the federal racketeering statute known as RICO, former prosecutors and defense attorneys said.
“New York’s enterprise corruption statute — which carries the potential for severe penalties — can be applied to money-making businesses alleged to have repeatedly engaged in criminal activity as a way to boost their bottom line.”
The Trump Organization is suspected of inflating the valuations of real estate in order to obtain loans (bank fraud) and then devaluing those properties to decrease the tax burden, which would constitute tax fraud. Trump’s corporation may also have laundered money for criminal organizations.
Whatever happens with the Manhattan grand jury or the investigation being conducted by New York Attorney General Letitia James, one thing is certain: Donald Trump will not be returning to the White House anytime soon, not even as an invited guest.
