Tom Cotton Tries To Blame Russian Hacking On Obama, Clinton; Gets SHUT DOWN By NSA Chief (VIDEO)

During a Tuesday hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Arkansas GOP Senator Tom Cotton attempted to place the blame for Russian meddling in the 2016 election on former President Obama and 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, but National Security Director Mike Rogers refused to play along with Cotton’s rewriting of history.

Admiral Rogers told the committee that Russia helped Trump over Clinton though he still didn’t have all the evidence he needed to prove that assertion. And that led Cotton to say that Trump had made repeated statements in the 2016 race about boosting defense spending and North American oil exploration. Cotton then added:

“None of those things seem to be favorable to the Kremlin. Did your agency take those things into account?”

Rogers said he had indeed factored those pronouncements from Trump into his thoughts, which led Cotton to then say:

“President Trump promised to reverse those policies, Secretary Clinton largely campaigned on continuity. That doesn’t sound to me something that the Kremlin would be happy about.”

Again, Rogers maintained that the intelligence he had showed that Russia favored Trump over Clinton.

That’s when Cotton tried to lead Rogers down a path the NSA Director rejected outright. Cotton asked:

“Do you think, given that eight-year history of the Obama administration, that Russian intelligence and leadership felt emboldened to undertake the hacks of those e-mail systems and release them?”

The Admiral shut Cotton down cold by telling him:

“Now, you are in to political judgment, sir, and that’s not my area.”

Isn’t it fascinating to watch as Republicans who so dearly love to say they value American national security over all other matters try and excuse the actions of a nation hostile to ours and the questionable motives of a man who benefited from the blood-stained benevolence of a thug like Vladimir Putin? This isn’t just hypocrisy. It’s treason.
