I’m guessing that you’ve never heard of Pastor Ben Bailey. I never had, and now that I know who he is and what he believes, I wish I’d never run across this steaming pile of excrement.
Bailey, pastor at Central Church of Christ in McMinnville, Tennessee, recently said that the only reason we no longer stone homosexuals is because we live in a “liberal society,” but God wants us to stone them nonetheless.
Speaking on a broadcast of his The Gospel of Christ television program, Bailey said:
“(God) has a definite standard and it is not the liberal mindset that we see today. This book [the Bible] does not condone things like women preaching… Paul said I do not let a woman preach of be in authority over a man, that’s not according to the Bible. If I’m out to please God, we don’t find things like that in the Bible.”
And then Pastor Bailey started the homophobic portion of his rant, declaring:
“God does not approve of homosexuality or gay marriage. The scripture says… that is vile, unnatural and deserving of a penalty… It’s an abomination that under the Old Testament deserved stoning. And so, is our God, the God of Bible, wanting us to go somewhere where it’s liberal, relaxed views and anything goes. No, that’s the effect of a very liberal society. And we need to make sure that such is not the idea or the mindset of God.”
God also doesn’t approve of hating your fellow man, Pastor. Jesus specifically said that we should all love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Your kind of wholesale hate speech is the very sort of thing Jesus warned against when he said many would come in His name, but would only be trying to lead people astray.
As a Christian myself, false prophets and malignant preachers such as Ben Bailey make me want to puke. But I comfort myself with this knowledge: Their expected “reward” in the next life is going to be an eternity in a very warm and lonely place.
