Mississippi Governor Posts Reelection Video Online That Features Him Shooting Minorities

If you thought that you’d seen all of the incredibly disgusting things that Republicans can possibly post online, consider the case of Mississippi GOP Gov. Tate Reeves.

Reeves recently decided to announce that he’s running for reelection in 2024 with a video depicting him as Clint Eastwood starring in one of his old spaghetti westerns

Granted, that’s bad enough, especially since Mississippi has the highest mortality rate from firearms in the country.

But the video also shows Reeves shooting minorities, according to The New Civil Rights Project., which referenced an item from Talking Points Memo.

“Reeves’ face is superimposed on Eastwood’s in clips from the classic Dollars trilogy movies. He’s seen cosplaying the white anti-hero, the Man with No Name, shooting at Mexican bandits with a Colt revolver and puffing on a cigarillo,” TPM’s Emine Yücel writes.

What policy is Reeves trying to make a point about? Immigration? Crime?

Actually, no policy is even mentioned, just Reeves shooting people like some sort of deranged vigilante trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator, which is pretty damn low in a state as backwards as Mississippi.

Perhaps the real reason Reeves is trying to change the subject is because his state is a disaster…… when it comes to the issue of health care.

Under (his) leadership, Mississippi has suffered a huge health crisis. In September of 2020, the Mississippi Clarion Ledger revealed a “new report ranks Mississippi’s overall health care system dead last. ‘It’s an embarrassment,’ said one health expert.”

Reeves is also suggesting in speeches that he’s up against what he calls the “national liberal machine,” which he portrays as a cadre of bloodthirsty killers.

Governor Reeves told supporters, “this is a different governor’s campaign than we have ever seen before in our state because we are not up against a local-yokel Mississippi Democrat, we are up against a national liberal machine.”

“They are extreme. They are radical and vicious,” he said of Democrats and the “national liberal machine.”

“They believe welfare is success. They believe that taxes are good and businesses are bad. They think boys can be girls, that babies have no life, and that our state and our nation are racist.”

Well, you know what they say, Tate: If the Klan robe fits, you might as well wear it.
