Alvin Bragg Claps Back Hard After Jim Jordan Announces A ‘Field Hearing’ On Crime In Manhattan

Earlier today, the House Judiciary Committee, led by chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced they would hold a “field hearing” in Manhattan next week to focus on what they’re calling “Victims of Violent Crime in Manhattan.”

An announcement from the committee says it “will examine how Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s pro-crime, anti-victim policies have led to an increase in violent crime and a dangerous community for New York City residents.”

A grand jury impaneled by Bragg indicted failed former president Donald Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records last month, and ever since Republicans in Congress have been trying to paint New York as some sort of hell on earth where everyone is afraid to walk down the street.

But as Bragg’s office made clear in their response to Jordan and his committee, crime is higher in Jordan’s home state, so their hearing is little more than a dog and pony show meant to try and distract from Trump’s illegal acts.

“The Manhattan D.A.’s Office welcomes public safety conversations. In fact, we’ll start: Just-released NYPD data show shootings and homicides are down in New York City for the first quarter of this year … Virtually every major crime category is lower in Manhattan now than it was last year (as of 4/2/23): murders are down 14%, shootings are down 14%, burglaries are down 21%, and robberies are down 8%.”

The statement also notes, “In D.A. Bragg’s first year in office, New York City had one of the lowest murder rates of major cities in the United States (5.2) — nearly three times lower than Columbus, Ohio (15.4). If Chairman Jordan truly cared about public safety, he could take a short drive to Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Akron, or Toledo in his home state, instead of using taxpayer dollars to travel hundreds of miles out of his way.”

Oh, and let’s not forget that it’s red states that are experiencing much higher murder rates, according to Axios:

The murder rates in Trump-voting states from 2020 have exceeded those in Biden-voting states every year since 2000, according to a new analysis by ThirdWay, a center-left think tank.

The four states at the top of the list are among the reddest of the red: Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Missouri.

Sorry, Jimbo, but once again we see that you’re full of shit and only interested in polishing Donald’s knob.

Timeline For Trump’s Manhattan Trial May Be Accelerated Due To His Latest Disgusting Actions

As he continues to attack Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and the judge overseeing his New York trial, failed one-term former president Donald Trump could be speeding up the timeline on the case.

“Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski discussed the possibility that New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan may decided to put Trump’s trial on a very fast track.

“There’s two things: Trump is under arrest, but no one, no one is disagreeing with what he is accused of, especially when it comes to the porn stars and the Playboy model, where he is in these pictures with them apparently, there was an affair,” Brzezinski noted Thursday morning. “They were paid off in some way, they’re trying to argue the payoff was legal they’re not trying to argue that this didn’t happen — that’s number one. Trump is under arrest.”

Brzezinski continued:

“Number two, accountability is seeping into Donald Trump’s life, he may slowly be feeling it because you can see in his Truth Social post, he’s trying not to name names he’s trying to edit what he is saying because the judge did warn him it could be a problem if his rhetoric or his words lead to trouble. So he has to change his behavior for the first time in his life, he can’t do exactly what he wants to do because he is under arrest.”

If Trump thinks his legal situation is bad now, Brzezinski explained, it could be much worse, and if that happens Donald won’t have anyone to blame but himself.

“I think the biggest risk that his lawyers if they are good lawyers, which I guess is questionable because he’s had to go through a lot of lawyers, but a good lawyer will tell him, ‘you need to be careful. you didn’t do what you want to do anymore you can’t be impulsive you can’t be undisciplined you can’t just riff and go off the cuff and be Trump anymore’ because the prosecution could move to accelerate this case. We’ve heard countless experts looking at this case, many of whom have said the core of this case is very sound.

“On top of it, the prosecution, if they feel his rhetoric and his words is impacting the case and influencing it, they could ask the judge to move it up from December 4th.”

Trumps Face Backlash For Targeting Daughter Of Judge Overseeing Donald’s Manhattan Trial

Indicted former president Donald Trump and two of his sons — Don Jr. and Eric — are being hit with massive online backlash and could also face legal ramifications for deliberately targeting the daughter of the judge overseeing the disgraced ex-president’s criminal trial in Manhattan.

Prior to the failed former president’s arraignment and booking in New York this afternoon, Breitbart published a story about Loren Merchan, the daughter of New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan.

The story from Breitbart suggested that Loren Merchan was a Democratic operative:

“According to Merchan’s archived LinkedIn account, she worked as the ‘Director of Digital Persuasion’ for ‘Kamala Harris For The People’ from February 2019 through December 2019 — which was during the 2020 presidential election. And according to the company’s website, the ‘Biden-Harris’ campaign was also a client.”

While Ms. Merhcan may have worked for the Harris campaign, there is absolutely no evidence that her father is politically biased in any manner at all.

But that didn’t stop the loser ex-president from posting an all-caps attack on his failing Truth Social site.

“VERY UNFAIR VENUE, WITH SOME AREAS THAT VOTED 1% REPUBLICAN. THIS CASE SHOULD BE MOVED TO NEARBY STATEN ISLAND – WOULD BE A VERY FAIR AND SECURE LOCATION FOR THE TRIAL. ADDITIONALLY, THE HIGHLY PARTISAN JUDGE & HIS FAMILY ARE WELL KNOWN TRUMP HATERS. HE WAS AN UNFAIR DISASTER ON A PREVIOUS TRUMP RELATED CASE, WOULDN’T RECUSE, GAVE HORRIBLE JURY INSTRUCTIONS, & IMPOSSIBLE TO DEAL WITH DURING THE WITCH HUNT TRIAL. HIS DAUGHTER WORKED FOR ‘KAMALA’ & NOW THE BIDEN-HARRIS CAMPAIGN. KANGAROO COURT!!!”

Then Eric Trump joined the chorus:

“They are all hand-picked. It is all pre-arranged. This corruption is on a different level.”

Donald Trump Jr. couldn’t resist adding his hateful take on the matter, too:

“Seems relevant… yet another connection in this hand-picked Democrat show trial. The BS never ends folks.”

Social media quickly reminded the Trumps that it was quite obvious they were attempting to intimidate Judge Merchan and his daughter and that they were disgusted by the postings.

Site Of MT Greene’s Pro-Trump Rally In Manhattan Used To Be An Open Sewer

A few hours before failed one-term, twice-impeached former president Donald Trump is arraigned, booked, fingerprinted, and photographed at the Manhattan Criminal Court, one his most devoted (and delusional) acolytes will hold rally in his honor.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), USA Today reports, has been warned that she’d better not cause problems or New York City police will indeed arrest her.

Greene, a Republican congresswoman from Georgia, has said she will lead a “peaceful protest” at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday against the “political persecution” of Trump. She will be joined by the New York Young Republicans, a group with ties to white nationalists and beleaguered Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y.

Mayor Eric Adams has a message for one of the Republican’s most loyal supporters.

“People like Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is known to spread misinformation and hate speech, while you’re in town, be on your best behavior,” Adams said during a press conference Monday.

The location of Greene’s rally, however, is what’s drawing the most attention, not to mention laughter, according to Business Insider.

Collect Pond Park was once an open sewer that reportedly stank for nearly 200 years before it was paved over and beautified.

The park — just steps outside of the DA’s office in downtown Manhattan — wasn’t always the patch of greenery inside New York’s concrete jungle. The small area was once a pond filled with drinking water that later became a disgusting, stinky open sewer and the center of a gang-filled slum where mobsters like Lucky Luciano and Al Capone got their start.

[…]

At the turn of the century, the once-pure pond had been transformed into a communal open sewer by nearby businesses. Slaughterhouses, tanneries, and breweries dumped refuse into the pond during the start of the industrial revolution, according to the Tenement Museum.

And open sewer. What a perfect location for the trashy Ms. Greene to worship her equally disgusting Mango Mussolini.

Former Watergate Prosecutor Explains Why Trump Could Be Found Guilty Of Tax Fraud In Manhattan

While failed former president Donald Trump was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury for hush money payments he allegedly made to adult film star Stormy Daniels in violation of New York campaign finance laws, he could also wind up being convicted of tax fraud, according to former Watergate prosecutor Nick Akerman during an appearance on CNN Monday.

Host Jake Tapper asked Akerman about a tweet he had posted earlier in the day.

“You tweeted that, quote, ‘If former President Richard Nixon had been held accountable for his actions arising out of the Watergate investigation, no one now would be saying an indictment of Trump is unprecedented,'” Tapper noted. “Given what we know about these allegations of business fraud against Trump, presuming that our understanding of the case, that it is the combination of the business fraud with the alleged campaign finance violations, do you think this particular indictment is as serious as what Nixon might have faced before Gerald Ford pardoned him?”

“Well, one of the things that Richard Nixon was facing prior to pardon was being indicted for tax violations,” Akerman explained. “And in fact, this indictment could also hinge on tax violations.”

Akerman added:

“Everybody keeps saying campaign violations, but the fact of the matter is when you create phony business records that claimed that there were legitimate attorney’s fees being paid, and deducted on the company’s books and records, that then land up on a New York State tax return, we’re talking tax fraud.”

A few seconds later, Akerman told Tapper, “It’s not much different than what Nixon did in donating his papers to the Archives after and using a backdated deed to get a deduction that was totally illegitimate.”

Akerman also noted that “we don’t really know what the full scope of the allegations are here,” which led him to remark, “You mentioned before that we have an idea of the list of grand jury witnesses. We do only as the people who personally appeared. Keep in mind that this was a joint investigation between the D.A.’s office and the attorney general’s office, and there were a number of people who testified in depositions whose testimony could simply be read to the grand jury without having to appear personally.”

The former Watergate prosecutor concluded:

“All of that leads me to believe we just don’t know what this indictment is going to allege, particularly in light of the fact that Donald Trump asserted his Fifth Amendment privilege in response to 450 questions, claiming that a truthful answer would tend to incriminate him. It’s hard to believe that the district attorney’s office doesn’t have enough evidence, and some of those crimes ought to put into this indictment.”

The penalty for tax fraud in New York is three to 25 years.
