History Right Wing Morons Social Media WTF?!

Clueless Conservatives Got Duped Into Honoring Lee Harvey Oswald On Memorial Day

You probably didn’t notice because you were busy with your own activities on Memorial Day, but it turns out that conservatives proved yet again just how ignorant they are of history when several well-known right-wingers got duped into celebrating the military service of Lee Harvey Oswald, the man who assassinated President John F. Kennedy.

It all began when Ken Klippenstein a reporter for The Intercept sent a photo of Oswald as a young private first class in the U.S. Marines along with this note:

“My grandpa’s a big fan of yours and is a veteran, he would be thrilled if you could RT this photo of him for Memorial Day.”

The list of those who fell for the prank includes Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Matt Schlapp of the American Conservative Union, and hack documentarian/convicted felon Dinesh D’Souza.

In short order, Lee Harvey Oswald began trending on Twitter:

Best of all, however, were some of the comments from others on Twitter as they celebrated the fact that the prominent right-wingers had just been punked:

Elections The Trump Adminstration WTF?!

Conservative Commentators Claim That Suburban Women Consider Mike Pence To Be Sexy

Fair warning: Before you read any further, you may want to have a barf bag handy.

According to two conservative commentators, the Trump reelection campaign can depend on the sex appeal of Vice President Mike Pence to help them win the votes of women in suburbia.

Jesse Kelly is a syndicated radio host, and on Thursday he posted this:

Really? Mike Pence is popular with suburban moms? That must be the suburban moms who desperately need eyeglasses.

As if Kelly’s tweet wasn’t bad enough, right-wing commentator Kurt Schlicter, who writes for TownHall.com, went even further, getting disgustingly graphic with his posting on Twitter:

That odd sensation you feel creeping across your body is laughter mixed with nausea. Mike Pence knows how to lay pipe? He calls his own wife “Mother!” He’s about as neutered as a man can be without having actually gone to a veterinarian and gotten the surgery.

Thankfully, both Kelly and Schlicter got the mockery they so richly deserved:

Did you need the barf bag? If not, then your stomach is a hell of a lot stronger than mine.

Conservatives Demanding Trump Cripple Social Security With Next Coronavirus Relief Bill

It’s starting to look like the next coronavirus relief bill is being held hostage over one issue near and dear to the hearts of conservatives in the GOP: A payroll tax cut, which would deny the Social Security Trust Fund of billions in badly-needed dollars at a time when more people are retiring and retirees are living longer.

On Saturday, President Donald Trump called for a cut in the payroll tax, cut, though the wording of his tweet in support of such a move was strangely worded:

According to Jeff Stein, economics reporter for the Washington Post, conservatives are even launching an ad blitz to build support for cutting payroll taxes across the board:

However, a payroll tax cut wouldn’t help the millions of Americans who are out of work and have much less money since enhanced unemployment benefits expired Friday. Many out of work Americans are also facing eviction since a moratorium on evictions also expired on Friday. That could lead to tens of millions being added to the ranks of the homeless.

Also, cutting payroll taxes wouldn’t add that much in the way of economic stimulus. In uncertain times such a the ones the U.S. is currently experiencing, consumers tend to hold on to extra money rather than spend it. So while the idea is to jump start the economy, that seems highly unlikely with the many challenges still facing the country as we head into the Fall and both COVID-19 and influenza threaten to overwhelm hospitals.

Conservatives have long dreamed of drastically slashing both Social Security and Medicare. If they get their way this time, both programs will likely be bankrupt in less than a decade.
