Sean Hannity Demands That Mitch McConnell Be Replaced As The GOP Senate Leader

If you were wondering what would become of Republicans once Donald Trump left the political scene, we got a taste on Tuesday of the new GOP reality as Sean Hannity demanded that Mitch McConnell be replaced as the party’s leader in the U.S. Senate.

What, you may ask, happened to cause such a rift to open up between Hannity and McConnell?

It all began in the afternoon when McConnell made it clear he holds Trump partially responsible for the Capitol riots that killed five people, announcing on the floor of the Senate:

“The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people, and they tried to use fear and violence to stop a specific proceeding of the first branch of the federal government, which they did not like.”

Many political experts who heard McConnell’s remarks later said it seems clear that he would like to see Trump convicted in the upcoming Senate impeachment trial and barred from ever running for public office again.

As you might expect, McConnell’s remarks didn’t sit well with Sean Hannity, who thinks Trump is the second coming of the messiah and worships him with a fervor that is nothing short of delusional and perverse.

On his Tuesday radio show, Hannity went after McConnell and insisted that the Kentucky senator needed to be given the boot by Senate Republicans:

“Now, keep all of this in mind when we talk about Mitch McConnell. Cause I don’t remember Mitch McConnell ever being critical, but today he’s critical of Donald Trump. And to me, it’s just signaling that he’s going to go along with this latest Schiff-show in the US Senate. Republicans should not — first of all, this unconstitutional action would be to have a post-presidency impeachment trial. Mitch McConnell’s signaling here that that’s what he wants to do? Sounds like it. Republicans need new leadership. These guys have been there forever.”

Wow! That’s a declaration of political civil war. And it doesn’t bode well for McConnell or any of the current upper ranks of the Senate GOP. Apparently, Hannity won’t be happy until Ted Cruz and/or Josh Hawley are leading Senate Republicans. Then they can all be one big happy mix of seditious traitors angling to inherit the Trump mantle.

The rattlesnakes are starting to turn on each other. This should be fun to watch.

Here’s Hannity calling for McConnell’s ouster:
