Even though he was given a full pardon for his crimes by President Donald Trump, Roger Stone simply couldn’t resist plunging right back into criminal behavior, and it turns out that he played a role in the January 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol that killed five people and has led to the arrests of hundreds of rioters across the country.
ABC News reports that Stone helped promote events on the 6th in conjunction with the other protests that took place that day and eventually resulted in the storming of the Capitol building by thousands of pro-Trump radicals:
“Roger Stone, Steve Bannon, and retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn all participated in efforts to promote the Jan. 6 ‘Stop the Steal’ event that ultimately devolved into a riotous and deadly melee at the United States Capitol, leaving five dead and causing Trump to become the only president to be impeached for a second time.
“While none of them spoke at the actual rally, Stone whipped up a crowd of Trump supporters in Washington the night before, telling them the president’s enemies sought ‘nothing less than the heist of the 2020 election.’
“‘And we say, No way!’ Stone said at the Jan. 5 rally.”
While Stone was indeed pardoned by Trump, that pardon was for the crimes of perjury and witness tampering. Sedition and incitement to insurrection and/or rioting are brand new crimes, and they can be charged by incoming Attorney General Merrick Garland, meaning Stone could face decades behind bars in federal prison yet again.
Oh, and that’s not all.
Washington, D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine has also said that he is looking to indict anyone who played a role in the Capitol riots, including those who whipped up the crowd, including the president, his son, Don Jr., and others. We can now add Roger Stone to that list.
That pardon Stone received may have been welcome news when it came, but rest assured he won’t be getting any pardons from Joe Biden or anyone in the District of Columbia.
Roger Stone deserves to rot in prison for the remainder of his pathetic life. Let’s hope it happens.
