#Roevember Is Trending On Social Media – And Republicans Are Now Admitting They’ll Lose The Midterms

The Dobbs decision changed everything.

When the Supreme Court ruled in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization in June, the political landscape of the upcoming midterm elections was turned on its ear and Republicans were suddenly placed on the defensive, trying to explain why they wanted to take a right away from women that they’d had for a half-century.

Now, three months after Dobbs, some polls are showing that Democrats are now favored in the generic ballot to keep control of both the House and Senate, an outcome that seemed impossible when gas prices were above $4 a gallon in most states.

As a result of the Supreme Court abortion ruling and new polling data, one hashtag has gone viral on Twitter: #Roevember. And that has spawned T-shirts that showing up all around the country.

Are Republicans worried yet? Yes they are, and they’re sounding the alarm, according to The Hill:

Rick Tyler, a Republican strategist and analyst, said the environment looks “not even close” to a red wave election year.

“The enthusiasm is just not there,” Tyler said. “Last time Republicans had a good year, they were 6 points ahead in the generic poll. Now we’re barely 2 points ahead. So it’s definitely not going to happen.”

Tyler’s numbers, however, are either not up to date or he’s hedging, as the most recent polling average from Real Clear Politics shows the generic poll lead for the GOP has shrunk from 4.8 points in June to a single point now, a statistical dead heat when you factor in the margin of error.

The other drag on Republicans: Donald Trump.

And in the wake of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision and the controversy surrounding Trump over Jan. 6, 2021, and the FBI’s seizure of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Democrats are aiming to emphasize negatives on Republicans rather than make the election a referendum on Biden or Democratic leadership.

Rick Tyler, a Republican strategist and political analyst says the “red wave” is not going to happen, and he places the blame on Trump:

“Donald Trump has turned this campaign from a referendum on Joe Biden, inflation, high food prices, high gas prices and affordable housing into a referendum on him.”

Well of course he has! That’s what malignant narcissists do. And this time it could wind up being what finally puts the GOP into a position of never winning another major election for the next decade or two. That would be a fitting punishment for a political party that tried to orchestrate a coup to keep their political god in power.
