Remember how conservatives and right-wingers tried to accuse progressives who were calling for reform in law enforcement of want to “defund the police”? Campaign ads were run during the 2020 presidential election suggesting that if Joe Biden was elected, you’d call the cops for help and no one would show up because the police force had closed due to a lack of funding.
So it’s especially ironic that some of those same people are now showing what massive hypocrites they are and urging cops across the country to call into work sick to protest the guilty verdict handed down Tuesday against Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who was convicted of second-degree murder and faces as much as 40 years in prison.
Shortly after the jury handed down their verdict, social media began lighting up with calls for a massive case of #BlueFlu, which, if it took place, would endanger the lives of Americans everywhere.
