With all of the news this week, you may have missed a press event President Joe Biden had on Thursday to discuss a bipartisan infrastructure bill that had just been announced by a group of senators.
But what wound up vexing right-wing media figures and commentators the most, according to Newsweek, was that Biden whispered his response on three occasions, clearly trying to make a point with the tone of his voice:
“While answering questions from several reporters about the deal, Biden leaned over his lectern and whispered the responses seemingly to emphasize the key points of the plan and his work as president since being inaugurated on January 20.
“When PBS reporter Yamiche Alcindor asked him about additional relief for families amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Biden leant over the lectern and whispered: ‘I got them $1.9 trillion in relief so far. They’re going to be getting checks in the mail that are consequential this week for childcare.'”
However, to hear right-wing media tell it, the whispering was somehow proof of Biden’s unfitness for office.
Former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany (who loves to brag about being a “Christian), couldn’t resist mocking the president:
And that was all it took for other right-wingers to pile on and make a mountain out of the proverbial molehill:
Fox News contributor Sean Duffy remarked:
“And to lean forward and, you know, whisper your answers kinda leads me to believe that there is some level of dementia.”
And Fox News contributor Sara Carter sarcastically commented:
“Listen to Biden and let me know if you’re feeling scared.”
Wanna know what really scares me, Sara? When the president of the United States suggests that Americans ingest disinfectant or put light inside their bodies as cures for COVID-19:
“And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?
“So it’d be interesting to check that.”
How desperate are conservatives to attack Biden no matter what he does? So much so that they’re now whining about whispered responses. Sounds like they need a few shots of Lysol to clear their heads.
