Reporter To Ted Cruz: Why Should Anyone Believe You?

Ted Cruz, welcome to the rough and tumble world of running for President. You might want to be aware of the fact that all the batshit crazy stuff you’ve said over the years can and will be held against you, as it should be.

Teddy Boy sat down with CNBC reporter John Harwood recently and Harwood, true to his name, took the wood to Cruz by reminding the candidate of a comment he had made in March in which he said the President should take the “110,000 agents at the IRS” and place them on the border with Mexico to keep immigrants from entering the United States. Harwood called Cruz out on the numbers, telling him:

“They’ve only got 25,000 agents or something. You’ve talked about the job-killing nature of Obamacare. We’re adding jobs at a very healthy clip right now. Why shouldn’t somebody listen to you and say, ‘The guy’ll just say anything — doesn’t have to be true’?”

Truth, as we all know, has never been Senator Cruz’s calling card. He apparently thinks he can spout out any “facts” he happens to find which support his ludicrous statements and positions.

Cruz told Harwood he had just been making a joke when he made the comment about the IRS:

“There is a game that is played by left-wing editorial writers. It’s this new species of yellow journalism called politi-fact. That particular stat is in a joke I used. So, they’re literally fact-checking a joke. I say that explicitly tongue in cheek.”

Just one problem with your joke, Senator: No one is laughing at it except you. Everyone else is laughing at you.

Cruz also happened to mention that he is fully aware some news outlets portray him as  “a wild-eyed lunatic,” but he said he’s cool with that; he doesn’t mind.

Which begs the question: Is he cool with it because he’s so self-assured to the point of arrogance, or because he knows he really is a lunatic? Or,  perhaps even worse, both?
