As it became clear on the evening of November 3, 2020 that Donald Trump would not be winning a second term in office, top aides and members of Trump’s inner circle began trying to understand what was happening, and the looks on their faces suggest they all knew that the election had been a blowout win for Joe Biden.
Jonathan Karl of ABC News has shared some of the photos to be found in his book, Betrayal: The Final Act of the Trump Show, along with commentary about what was taking place inside the White House as returns showed Biden carrying states the Trump team had thought would back their candidate. Karl writes:
A series of photos taken on election night 2020 inside the Trump White House captures the tension as Trump’s family and his top aides track election returns and see Trump’s early lead fade away.
The photos capture the apparently pained expressions on the faces of Trump’s inner circle.
According to a source who is shown in at least one of the photos, they were taken as the campaign’s analysts, who had been more confident early in the evening, became concerned Trump could lose.

These photos completely undercut the assertion made repeatedly by Trump and some of his top aides that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from him.
