It’s no secret that some of the most prominent spawn of failed one-term former President Donald Trump have political ambitions. There are reports that Ivanka may run against incumbent Florida Sen. Marco Rubio in 2022 and that Donald Trump Jr. harbors dreams of perhaps running for president in 2024.
But those plans were made before Ivanka and Junior’s daddy incited a riot that killed five people and has led to the old man being impeached for an unprecedented second time.
So do the two eldest Trump children have a realistic chance of being elected to anything, even garbage collector?
Their cousin, Mary Trump, doesn’t think so, and she’s making it clear that her uncle is to blame for trashing whatever so-called political prospects the two may have had at one time, telling SiriusXM Radio host Dean Obeidallah:
“I think it’s over. The insurrection was a bridge too far.”
And that wasn’t all Mary had to say, HuffPost notes, as she made sure and predicted what the future may hold for Don Jr.:
“Trump Jr. was ‘for sure totally implicated’ in inciting the deadly U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6, she said. The ex-president’s son helped to whip up anger among the crowd at a pro-Trump rally before the mob stormed the Capitol.
“’If there’s any justice, he will be indicted at some point as well,’ Mary Trump said of her cousin.”
It seems unlikely that the former president will be found guilty by the Senate, if only because there are too many brain dead members of the GOP who are willing to be toadies for Trump, no matter what he does.
But, the possibility of criminal charges for the storming of the Capitol may indeed be in the offing for both Donald and Don Jr., if only because both of them are too damn stupid to know when to shut their big mouths and not incriminate themselves.
As for Ivanka, she may think she has a career in politics, but the voters will make that decision. And don’t be surprised if they reject her for being too plastic, too phony, and too self-absorbed. In other words, for being exactly the same as her father.
