Now that President Joe Biden and his administration have decided to take off the gloves and fight back against the conspiracy theories, lies, and obstruction of Republicans, GOP members of Congress are finding out what it’s like when a good verbal barb hits home.
Take Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), one of the nastiest human beings on the face of the planet, a woman who goes out of her way to troll those she disagrees with (usually on Twitter), who was apoplectic this week when the president announced student loan debt relief for millions of Americans.
In response, Greene remarked:
“For for our government just to say, you know, ‘okay, well your debt is completely forgiven.’ Obviously they have an agenda for that they need votes in November. So the timing is a pure coincidence there as well, but it’s completely unfair and taxpayers all over the country, taxpayers that never took out a student loan, taxpayers that pay their bills and and you know, maybe even never went to college or just hard-working people. They shouldn’t have to pay off the great big student loan debt for some college student that piled up massive debt going to some Ivy League school. That’s not fair.”
That led the White House to remind Greene that her family business took a rather large sum of money in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans that were later forgiven by the federal government.
The Georgia Republican was so upset that about all she could manage to offer in response was to tell the president to “Go to hell.” Of course, if he was going to, the first person he’d see in Hades would be Greene, who is probably a tour guide.
But the president was far from finished with Ms. Greene, telling reporters when asked about her comments:
“I found it absolutely fascinating that some of the folks who were talking about [how] this is big spending are the same people who got $158,000 in PPP money.”
When he tried to give an example, Biden either couldn’t think of Greene’s name or (even better) deliberately refused to call her by name, which would be the ultimate diss.
That absolutely enraged Greene, as was clear by how she reacted on Twitter:
“Well if his dementia wasn’t so bad he could remember. At least President Trump knows everyone’s name. Joe is a career politician that knows nothing about making payroll during a tyrannical government shutdown. He only knows how to buy votes.”
That’s when Twitter took over and got the last laugh on Margie Three Toes.
