Lindsey Graham Says The 2016 Race Is Over: ‘We Can Lose…And Probably Will’

Count South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham as one of the more realistic and honest members of the GOP, especially when it comes to the negative impact he feels Donald Trump is having on the Republican Party.

Appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” earlier today, Graham sounded quite downbeat when he considered the chances of the GOP winning the White House in November, saying:

“We can lose in 2016 and probably will”

Graham then went on to say that neither Trump or Ted Cruz, whom Graham is now supporting out of sheer desperation to stop Trump, looks like a winner against Hillary Clinton:

“Here’s my concern. Trump gets wiped out. Ted, I don’t know if he can beat [Hillary Clinton] or not but at least we’ve got a fighting chance.”

The Senator from South Carolina also said he fears for the future of the GOP in general, all because of Donald Trump:

“If Trump is the standard-bearer, it’s not about 2016, it’s about losing the heart and soul of the conservative movement. I’m not going to stand behind a guy that gets David Duke’s support.”

Senator Graham’s musings on MSNBC beg this question: Why didn’t the GOP mobilize much sooner to try and stop Trump before he was able to become the front-runner and dominate the race for the necessary delegates? Why didn’t they call him out sooner for his racist rantings?

The GOP is quickly becoming known as the party of hate, and they are also well on their way to being a permanent minority party in this country.
