Lauren Boebert’s Son Called 911 To Report His Father Was Abusing Him: Report

If you were wondering why exactly Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) filed for divorce from her husband several days ago, a report from Business Insider may shed some light on the matter.

Rep. Lauren Boebert’s son called 911 in December to report that his father, Jayson Boebert, had gotten physical with him and was “throwing” him around the house and that he didn’t know why.

Minutes after the call ended — while Garfield County Sheriff’s Office deputies were on their way to their home — the teen called again to take the accusations back, with Lauren Boebert jumping on the phone to say her son “doesn’t need help.”

Jayson Boebert denied to the deputies — and to Insider — that he had gotten physical with the teen.

Asked for comment on the report, Boebert remarked:

“The safety and well-being of my family are the most important things in the world to me. We’ve had some tough times and heartache. I’ve taken action to ensure there are better days ahead for all of us.”

Interestingly, the congresswoman is suing her estranged husband for parental decision making and child support for all four of their children.

The report from Insider also includes the following: “Boebert’s son told the dispatcher his mother had been living in a farmhouse at an attached property because the family was having ‘problems.'”

Here’s a partial transcript of the December 911 phone call:

The Boebert teen reports his father is “throwing him around.”

The teen also says, “Yes, he was throwing me around. He called me a psycho, when he’s the — “

The dispatcher asks if there were any weapons in the house, to which the teen replies, “I mean, there are weapons in the house, yeah, but I don’t think he’d use them on me. He just does this to me so much.”

For his part, Jayson Boebert had this to say:

“He overreacted. We’re back to being a family. All I do is work and come home and try to raise everyone.”

Is this what Republicans mean when they talk about “family values”? If so, it certainly sounds a hell of a lot more like child abuse.
