Crime Donald Trump

Investigation Of Trump’s Alleged Financial Crimes Expands To Another State

The investigation of possible crimes committed by failed, one-term former President Donald Trump has once again expanded, and now includes real estate deals he made in Chicago, according to CNN:

“The Manhattan district attorney’s office subpoenaed documents from an investment company that loaned the Trump Organization millions of dollars for its Chicago skyscraper in a sign that the investigation into the former president’s finances continues to expand, according to people familiar with the investigation.

“Prosecutors issued the grand jury subpoena to Fortress Investment Management late last year, the people said, as part of their wide-ranging investigation into former President Donald Trump and his company.

“Investigators’ interest in how Trump and his company treated the Chicago loan is an expansion of an inquiry that encompasses multiple aspects of the Trump business.”

New York Attorney General Letitia James is also looking into the Fortress. In a court filing in the fall of last year, James made clear that her office suspected that Trump and his corporation, the Trump Organization, had illegally claimed forgiven debts as income, which is forbidden under New York law.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr’s office has eight years of the former president’s tax returns. Vance has also impaneled a grand jury which could hand down criminal indictments in the weeks ahead.

Clearly, Vance and other prosecutors are taking a long hard look at all of Trump’s business dealings. And since there have long been rumors that Trump cheats on his taxes and may have laundered money through his company, there’s no shortage of crimes he can be charged with.

Just when Donald Trump thinks the news cannot possibly get worse for him, karma rises up and bites him right on the ass.
