Inside Job? Evidence Suggests Police May Have Let Some Rioters Into the Capitol Building

How exactly did pro-Trump rioters manage to make it into what is supposed to be one of the most secure locations in the country, the U.S. Capitol building, and allow it to be occupied for hours on Wednesday?

There’s a growing body of evidence that the domestic terrorists who caused so much damage and set the nation on edge may have had assistance with their plot from members of the U.S. Capitol Police.

NBC News Chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel was asking questions about the ease with which the rioters made their way into the Capitol building, and he shared them on social media, drawing some interesting responses from others on Twitter:

Something here doesn’t add up. If the Capitol police only have one job — protecting the Capitol building — why were so many of the rioters allowed to get to close to the front of the building? They certainly didn’t allow it happen when protesters from the Black Lives Matter movement marched on the Capitol and were met by a wall of officers:

There are plenty of questions. Now we need (and deserve) answers.
