GOP Whining WTF?!

Hypocrite Mitch McConnell Says He’s SHOCKED Dems Will Block SCOTUS Nominees

There are lots of hypocrites among the Republicans in Congress, but perhaps the crown for most hypocritical should be given to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

For 10 months and counting, McConnell has adamantly refused to hold hearings on President Obama’s nominee to the United States Supreme Court, Merrick Garland, who is eminently qualified but doesn’t conform to McConnell’s far right view of the Constitution.

And yet, when Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Democrats would block any extremist appointments to the high court by the GOP, McConnell got upset, declaring:

“I think that’s something the American people simply will not tolerate and we’ll be looking forward to receiving a Supreme Court nomination and moving forward on it.”

Apparently McConnell (aka Turtle Man) is unfamiliar with the concept of karma and payback. How ironic that he can hold a Supreme Court seat hostage for nearly a year but now wants to be outraged by the same tactic being used against him and his party.

As for Americans not tolerating it: McConnell may be quite surprised by just how many Americans–3 million more of whom voted for Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton–are indeed more than happy to leave a seat on the Supreme Court open for as long as it takes to guarantee Antonin Scalia clones don’t wind up rolling back every advance we’ve made in this country over the past half-century.

What McConnell and the Republicans forgot when they held the Garland nomination hostage is that both parties can play that game. And now they have one of the most formidable tacticians in the Senate, Senator Schumer, working against them. Pretty soon the GOP may realize that not only have they been outplayed, they’ve been Trumped in the worst possible way.
