Greene Claims DeSantis’ 2024 Campaign Launch On Twitter Isn’t ‘Serious’ Because Social Media Is ‘Not Real’

Even though he formally filed paperwork today making it official that he will be seeking the 2024 Republican presidential nomination and is scheduled to publicly announce his intentions on Twitter Spaces with Twitter CEO Elon Musk later this evening, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis isn’t really “serious” about being president because he’s doing so on social media, according to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

Greene made her comments on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast today, asserting that DeSantis needs to be in front of a large group of people to be taken seriously.

“You don’t announce that you’re running for President of the United States in some kind of weird little Twitter world,” Greene shrieked. “It’s not a real world! Twitter is not real! So I can’t comprehend why that would be the place to do the announcement. It makes no sense to me and it’s not serious!”

Of course, the irony of Greene’s comments cannot be overstated. After all, her lord and savior, Donald Trump, spent his entire presidency announcing things (including the hiring and firing of staff) on Twitter. It was his preferred mode of communication before he was booted from the platform for his repeated lies about the 2020 election, which was won in a landslide by President Joe Biden.

Greene also uses Twitter to excess, sharing videos of her demented rantings dozens of times each and every day.

As you might expect, Twitter users had some choice words for the Georgia Republican.
