Grassley Walks Back GOP Accusations That Joe Biden Is Part Of A ‘Criminal Scheme’

48 hours after he suggested that President Joe Biden was part of a “criminal scheme” when he served as vice president in the Obama administration, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) is now walking back those allegations, admitting that he doesn’t know if what he said is true or not.

Speaking with Newsmax host Greta Van Susteren on Friday, Newsweek reports that Grassley said he has absolutely no evidence of what he alleged earlier in the week.

Van Susteren asked Grassley, “The letter is electrifying because it talks about exchange of money for policy decisions. It’s a very serious allegation against the then-vice president.”

Grassley responded, “It is a very serious allegation. I wish I could say that I knew it was true or untrue.”

On Monday, Grassley, along with Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, made news by announcing they had sent a letter to FBI Director Chris Wray demanding the agency turn over any information regarding “a criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national.”

After Grassley made his comments on Newsmax, a spokesperson for his office would only say that the senator still wants to see the documents he alleges the FBI has:

“Given the precise nature of the information provided by department whistleblowers with a high degree of credibility, we’re confident that the FBI has had these significant allegations for some time now.

“The question is what did the FBI do with that information. That’s what Senator Grassley would like to illuminate.”

Grassley and Comer are on a fishing expedition, looking for dirt on the Biden family so they can try and damage the president’s chances of reelection. If only they’d been this diligent when Donald Trump was in the White House.
