Donald Trump GOP WTF?!

Graham Calls Trump A ‘Lying Motherf*cker’ But Absolves Him Because He’s ‘Fun To Hang Out With’

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) used to be a fervent anti-Trumper, famously warning that if the Republican Party nominated Donald Trump, they would lose the 2016 election:

“If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed…….and we will deserve it.”

But once Trump was elected, there was a sudden change in Graham, who did a stark 180 degree turn and began sucking up to Donnie every chance he got, even playing golf with him and praising nearly every policy or pronouncement the former president made.

So what changed? Based on a new book, the change was in Graham, who still admits that Trump is a lying sack of crap but absolves him of being a pathological liar because he’s “fun to hang out with.”

According to Mediaite, that revelation about Graham is in a new book from Peter Baker and Susan Glasser:

New York Times correspondent Peter Baker and New Yorker writer Susan Glasser have been giving news outlets a sneak peek of their upcoming book The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021. The book is already drawing media intrigue — with the duo previously revealing that Trump gave them an interview in which he said he’ll never run for president with his former running mate, Mike Pence, ever again.

Axios and CNN obtained an advance copy of the book, and it has some definite surprises, including the one about Graham:

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) called his friend Donald Trump “a lying motherf—er” but “a lot of fun to hang out with,” according to The Divider, by Peter Baker and Susan Glasser, out next Tuesday.

Why it matters: Graham said it with “a what-can-you-do shrug,” the authors report — the mindset of so many Trump allies and enablers

Additionally, it turns out that Trump’s wife, Melania, told him he was failing to contain the COVID virus:

“‘You’re blowing this,” she recalled telling her husband,” the authors write. “‘This is serious. It’s going to be really bad, and you need to take it more seriously than you’re taking it.’ He had just dismissed her. ‘You worry too much,’ she remembered him saying. ‘Forget it.’”

In many ways, COVID and Trump’s subpar response to it played a role in his failure to win re-election.

Graham, on the other hand, remains a loyal Trump knob polisher, always eager to stand and salute whatever the Donald says or does, including stealing classified documents.
