Georgia Billboard Equates Trump With Jesus Christ

Just outside the small Georgia town of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, a new billboard has been put up that compares failed, one-term, twice-impeached former President Donald Trump to the son of God, Jesus Christ.

Newsweek reports:

“The billboard features a picture of Trump looking stoically into the middle distance alongside what is purported to be a Bible quote from Romans 8:17, which reads: ‘Unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulders.'”

Ironically, the scripture referenced on the highway ad is a misquote. Romans 8:17 actually reads:

“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”

The verse cited is a paraphrase of Isaiah 9:6:

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Fort Oglethorpe is located in North Georgia, and the town is part of Georgia’s 14th congressional district, which is represented by none other than Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R), who is fond of misquoting the Bible and using religion as a cudgel against her opponents.

Comparing Trump to Jesus is not only sacrilegious, it’s also the ultimate in hypocrisy considering that the Donald is probably the most immoral man to ever hold the office of president. He has been accused of sexual harassment and/or sexual assault by dozens of women and even admitted that he was sexually attracted to his daughter, Ivanka, when she was only 13 years old.

Twitter users were eager to comment on the absurdity of the Georgia billboard:

Here’s a bit of scripture that seems more relevant than ever in light of this ridiculous billboard:

“Jesus wept.” (John 11:35)
