Fox News Blasted For Suggesting Sen. Tammy Duckworth Improperly Used Veteran Benefits

Fox News likes to pretend they love the United States and support our men and women in the military, and yet they routinely take cheap shots at the current commander-in-chief, lie to their viewers about American foreign policy, and attack people such as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, for daring to speak his mind.

The latest proof that Fox is only interested in sensationalism comes from an article written and posted on the Fox News website by Dom Calicchio that carried this headline:

“Democrat Tammy Duckworth hasn’t paid property tax on her Illinois home since 2015, report says.”

Sen. Duckworth hasn’t paid property taxes on her Illinois home. That’s true, but the reason she hasn’t is because her state waives those taxes for disabled U.S. veterans. Duckworth lost both her legs and part of an arm while serving on active duty with the Army in Iraq. The helicopter she was piloting was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.

Yes, the Fox article does go on to note why Duckworth doesn’t pay property taxes, but the headline is pure clickbait and gives the impression that Fox was trying to slag the senator, Mediaite notes:

“As it were, Fox’s headline blatantly suggests that Duckworth is freeloading off of her state. Between that and the article’s admission that Duckworth is a disabled veteran who qualifies for the exemption, many news observers were deeply unimpressed by the article’s apparent framing as a hit piece.”

It didn’t take long before social media lit into Fox News for their misleading headline, with many veterans being among the most outraged by what the so-called “news network” had done:
