EXPOSED: Chinese Factory That Makes Clothes For Ivanka Only Pays Workers $62 A Week For 60 Hours Work

As it turns out, Ivanka Trump is more like her daddy when it comes to business than we could have ever imagined.

An audit of a factory in China–owned by the G-III Apparel Group–which holds the exclusive license to manufacture and distribute Ivanka’s fashion line–shows that workers in the plant are forced to work at least 57 hours a week and paid $62 a week for their labor.

So much for “buy American, hire American.”

It should be noted that the daughter of the so-called American president has no leadership role in G-III, and the report from the Fair Labor Association did not give the factory’s name or location, nor did it say whether the factory was making Ivanka-brand products at the time of the inspection.

Ivanka Trump has sought to cast herself as both a champion of workplace issues in recent appearances, writing in an essay for the Financial Times this week:

“We can add billions to the global economy by creating an enabling environment, increasing women’s labor force participation and business ownership, and improving the productivity of their work.”

Is making a little more than a dollar and hour doing anything other than “enabling” the first daughter to further enrich herself at the expense of people who are forced to work for slave wages for 10 to 12 hours at a time?

Not surprisingly, when the clothing company owned by Ivanka Trump was asked for comment by the Washington Post, it declined to say a word about what had been discovered at the Chinese sweatshop.

Just like her father, whose clothing line is also made in other countries, Ivanka preaches one thing for the American public and then does exactly the opposite. If she and the alleged president want to serve as an example, they would demand that their products be made in the United States so that American workers could benefit. But we won’t hold our collective breath waiting for these hypocrites to do a damn thing for anyone but themselves.
