Eric Trump, the son of convicted sex offender and former president Donald Trump, is threatening to sue MSNBC host Rachel Maddow for daring to report that he will be speaking at an event along with two known anti-Semites who have expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler.
On Monday evening, according to HuffPost, Maddow reported that Eric and his wife, Lara, will be appearing at a ReAwaken America event being held at the Trump Doral resort hotel in Miami.
Scott McKay and Charlie Ward will appear on the latest leg of the ReAwaken America tour. Both have expressed antisemitic views and support of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, noted Maddow.
“I can’t really believe they are going ahead with it,” the MSNBC host said of the tour, which was co-founded by Michael Flynn, Trump’s disgraced former national security adviser.
According to the Anti-Defamation League, the ReAwaken America tour is “a series of controversial far-right conferences” featuring “prominent QAnon influencers, anti-vaxx activists, election fraud conspiracy theorists, Christian pastors, political candidates and elected officials.”
That led Eric to suggest that he might sue Maddow for daring to report the truth of who he likes to hang out with, which is absurd because truth is an absolute defense in any defamation or libel lawsuit.
Eric posted his angry message on Twitter.
“@maddow is walking a fine line. We are the most pro-Israel family in American political history – from the Abraham Accords, moving the embassy to Jerusalem, recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights to sanctioning Iran, no one has done more for Israel than our family. Never mind, that my sister, brother-in-law and niece and nephews happen to be proud Jews. If she or anyone else even remotely suggests I am anti-semitic I will not hesitate to take legal action against them personally.”
Eric’s angry post drew plenty of mocking comments.
Eric isn’t suing anyone. Not now and not ever. He’s almost as full of shit as his old man.
