Capitol Insurrection GOP Whining January 6 WTF?!

Elise Stefanik Tells Fox News Tonight’s J6 Public Hearing Should Be About Gas Prices

If perhaps you’d heard all of the ridiculous BS that Republicans could possibly blurt out regarding why the work of the House Select Committee on the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol is unnecessary, the one Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) used during an appearance on Fox News is certain to leave you shaking your head in disbelief and disgust.

According to Stefanik, tonight’s public hearing of the January 6 committee is a waste of time and would be better spent on a discussion of why gas prices are so high in the United States:

“This is about trying to change the narrative. And think about this, Sean: House Democrats have not held any hearings, let alone hold a prime time hearing on any of these crises you’ve pointed out. Whether it’s the skyrocketing gas prices, which are unaffordable for my rural constituents.”

Hey, Elise: Do you really want to know why gas prices are so high? If so, then listen carefully: GAS PRICES ARE HIGH BECAUSE OIL COMPANIES ARE PRICE GOUGING!

See how easy that was, congresswoman? If only everything had such a clear-cut answer.

For any Republicans still unconvinced that gas prices are tied to greed, consider these facts from The Guardian:

While gas prices soar for consumers, one group of people isn’t faring so badly.

Chief executives from the largest oil and gas companies received nearly $45m more in combined total compensation in 2021 as compared to 2020 amid the steep rise in gasoline prices across the US over the last year, a new report states.

Twenty-eight major oil and gas companies, such as Shell, Exxon, BP and Marathon Petroleum, gave out $394m in total to their chief executives in 2021, according to an exclusive analysis provided to the Guardian.

Elise was promptly blasted on Twitter for her ridiculous remarks.
