Disillusioned Trumpkins Say Of The Donald: He’s ‘Just Like Any Other Damn President,’ And He’s Not ‘Winning’

As the Trump administration nears its first 100 days in office, what exactly does it have to show for its efforts? No wall is being built on the southern border. The Muslim ban is on indefinite hold in federal court. A campaign promise to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act failed miserably. But at least there’s been lots and lots of golf.

Now it would appear that many Trump supporters are growing weary of their political savior.

The New York Times recently sent reporters to Pennsylvania to talk to some of the voters who cast their ballots for Trump, and the results should serve as a powerful warning to a man who seems to think his presidency is going fantastic. Theresa Remington was blunt in her assessment of Trump:

“Just like any other damn president.”

Tattoo artist Brian Mock told the Times:

“No one wants to be wrong. It’s seeing a house on fire and saying, ‘That house isn’t on fire.’ It is very clearly on fire.”

As for that repeated promise Trump made that the country would get tired of “winning” under his leadership, Bill Yokobosky IV doesn’t sound impressed by all that winning:

“It’s not what he’s done, it’s what he’s trying to do. He hasn’t succeeded, really.”

Doug Meginley manages a record store and said Trump supporters he encounters have “quieted down.” Their bluster and gloating has now turned to disappointment, Meginley noted.

Recently polling from Gallup backs what these Pennsylvania residents told the Times. A Gallup tracking poll shows that on April 15, Trump remained mired at 41 percent approval, with 53 percent saying they disapprove of the job the alleged president is doing. Not even the missile strikes on Syria and dropping of the so-called “Mother of All Bombs” has been able to boost Trump’s poll numbers.

As was often noted before Trump was elected, he’s been a con man his entire life. Now many of those who so ardently supported him are coming to the painful realization that they too were conned.
