During a 15-hour long hearing of the House Homeland Security Committee on Tuesday evening to discuss the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Rep. Rob Menendez (D-NJ) excoriated his Republican colleagues for using the issue of border security to boost their likely 2020 presidential nominee, Donald Trump.
According to HuffPost, Menendez “said the House Homeland Security Committee has held 17 hearings on the border, but zero full committee hearings on other issues within its jurisdiction such as emergency preparedness, cyber threats, infrastructure protection and more.”
Former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney (WY) revealed in her 2023 book that Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) referred to Trump as the Orange Jesus. Green is now chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.
Menendez went on to call the impeachment hearings a “sham,” adding, “I’ve tried to listen here. I try to be a team player, I really do. I try not to engage in the partisanship. But I’ve had it.”
Video of Menendez’s comments has garnered over 170,000 views and drew praise on social media.
CNN host Kate Bolduan got the better of Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) when he tried to suggest she wasn’t smart enough to fully understand a piece of legislation he voted against.
The interview began cordially, with Bolduan asking about the upcoming Iowa caucus, but turned ugly when the host asked about a House resolution, Mediaite reports.
After discussing the spending bill that may or may not threaten a government shutdown (again), Bolduan turned to the campaign trail. Massie is a surrogate for presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), and while he was not named during CNN’s debate on Wednesday, he was called out by former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley (R) as “the most anti-Israel Republican” who “voted against Israel’s right to exist in Congress.”
Haley was referring to House Resolution 888, entitled “Reaffirming the State of Israel’s right to exist,” which was passed with overwhelming bipartisan support with 21 not voting, one member voting present, and one sole vote against: Massie’s. It’s a quick read, and plainly states what Bolduan presented to Massie, that the resolution “reaffirms the state of Israel’s right to exist, recognizes that denying Israel’s right to exist is a form of anti-Semitism.”
Bolduan read some of the resolution, which led to Massie interrupting her and interjecting, “That’s the name of resolution, congratulations.”
The host noted that she wasn’t reading the name of the resolution. Massie grinned as he again told the host, “Congratulations, you’re able to read the name of the resolution.”
Tilting her head and glaring at the congressman, Bolduan remarked, “Congressman, I don’t think you’re trying to question my intelligence now, are you?”
“No, I’m saying you don’t have time to prepare for this,” he replied.
When Bolduan informed the congressman that she had specifically highlighted the document before she interview, the Kentucky Republican snarked:
“I can read your social media. I also think given what is stated in this resolution, it is worthy of re-asking,” Bolduan told Massie.
Sarcasm dripping from his voice, Massie grinned and said, “I enjoy this dialogue. I hope I get to come back on and talk about what’s in these bills again.”
Since we were children, most of us have heard that one of the most effective ways to put out a fire is with water. After all, water is what fire fighters almost always use to extinguish blazes that occur in homes, offices, and other locations.
But a delusional Trump supporter wants us to know that water isn’t the way to go when it comes to fighting fires.
That Trump enthusiast was interviewed by a member of the comedy duo “The Good Liars,” and he shared his view of all things pertinent to our daily lives.
In the video clip below, you’ll see Davram Stiefler of “The Good Liars” speaking with a man wearing a Trump 2024 cap and a T-shirt that reads, “All Rifles Matter.” Asked what his top issue is for the 2024 election, the man remarks, “No gun-free zones.”
Seeking to clarify, Stiefler responds, “More guns.”
“Yeah,” the man replies. “If you can’t fight fire with water, got to fight fire with fire.”
Stiefler: “You can’t fight fire with water?”
Trumper: “Oh, depends on what’s in the fire.”
“They specifically fight fire with water,” Stiefler informs the man, explaining that water is the primary firefighting tool used in nearly every blaze.
There’s stupid, and there’s MAGA stupid. It’s a even deeper level of idiocy and delusion.
Oh, and how dare you try to fight a fire with water!
New video taken by a January 6 rioter shows a dramatic confrontation between people who stormed the Capitol on that fateful day and confronted two Republican members of Congress.
The footage, which was obtained by NBC News via an open records request, is some of the most harrowing yet seen by the American public.
According to NBC:
The 8-minute video, shot by Capitol rioter Damon Beckley and introduced as evidence ahead of his sentencing, was released to the media coalition late Friday in response to a request from NBC News. Federal prosecutors are seeking more than three years in federal prison for Beckley, and his sentencing has now been rescheduled for Feb. 9.
In a tense moment, Beckley is told by Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX), who served as a sheriff before being elected to the Congress, “I’ve been in law enforcement in Texas for 30 years, and I’ve never had people act this way. I’m ashamed!”
Another portion of the video shows Beckely noting, “I drove fourteen hours to get here and stood in the cold for three and a half hours to find out that Mike Pence is a f—— traitor, man. And I voted for that f—— dude. He could’ve done the right thing and certified those legislators, electors, and we wouldn’t be standing here with a nine-millimeter pointed at me right now!”
A second rioter remarks, “We’re real American citizens, and we’re sick of this. We’re making it known that we’re sick of it.”
Another rioter is heard telling someone, “They can only kill so many of us.”
During a speech he made Friday to commemorate the third anniversary of the Capitol insurrection which left 10 people dead, President Joe Biden said:
For some reason known only to him, failed one-term former president Donald Trump decided he’d start discussing the subject of magnets and how they work during a Friday campaign rally in Iowa.
In a video shared on Twitter/X, the disgraced ex-head of state tells supporters, “They had an almost billion-dollar cost over on the magnetic elevators. Think of it. Magnets. Now, all I know about magnets is this: Give me a glass of water, let me drop it on the magnets. That’s the end of the magnets.”
Water on a magnet makes it stop working? Um…no.
As a matter of fact, water is almost completely non-magnetic, so magnets work underwater the same as they do in air or in a vacuum. Cold water has absolutely no effect on the field or on the magnet. Hot water, however, can reduce the strength of the magnet and therefore potentially weaken the magnetic field.
As several people pointed out, Trump continues to show signs of serious cognitive decay.
Remember how Trump once called himself a “stable genius”? Clearly, he’s neither.
