Lindsey Graham: I Can’t Believe People Are Upset Kavanaugh Lied About Overturning Roe At His Confirmation

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said Sunday that he’s shocked some of his colleagues in the Senate are upset Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh lied about overturning Roe v. Wade during his confirmation hearings in 2018.

Fox host Bret Baier noted that Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said this week she’s angry Kavanaugh told her he would likely not vote to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe ruling:

“Some senators are now openly questioning whether they were misled in the confirmation hearings.”

Graham replied:

“This has not been well-accepted by the public. The public has been divided since 1973. Ask your next guest, who is a good friend, does he want the court to reconsider [Citizens United] regarding campaign finance laws? Would he welcome a revisiting of the Heller decision where the court said the Second Amendment was a personal right?”

The public has been divided on the issue of a woman’s right to choose? Polls released just this week show otherwise, with a Washington Post-ABC News poll indicating that “54 percent of Americans think the 1973 Roe decision should be upheld while 28 percent believe it should be overturned — a roughly 2-to-1 margin.”

Graham continued:

“So my liberal friends don’t mind the court overturning decisions they don’t like. They very much are against overturning decisions that they agree with. So you can’t bargain your way into getting onto the court. So any senator who tries to bargain with a nominee — will you uphold the case I like or overturn the ones I don’t — is really doing a disservice to the court.”

Notice how Graham completely avoided saying if a justice should be punished for lying under oath during a confirmation hearing? Apparently the senator is fine with perjury as long as it’s done in the service of conservative ideals.

Ted Cruz Haughtily Declares ‘I’m Not A Moron’ And Then Proves Otherwise

Even though he’s an arrogant asshat of a human being, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) wants us all to know that he’s “not a moron.”

Speaking with reporters on Capitol Hill, Cruz insisted that the draft Supreme Court opinion reversing the Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania vs. Casey decisions was leaked by a liberal law clerk working for one of the three progressive justices, though he’s also said he suspects someone in the office of Justice Sonia Sotomayor without providing a shred of evidence to support such a serious accusation.

“They wanted to put heat and they wanted to invoke politics to try to get them to change their vote. And by the way, if that left-wing law clerk succeeds, it would be the most grotesque politicization of the Supreme Court in the history of our nation.”

During a appearance on Fox Business, Cruz laid out his unsubstantiated conspiracy theory, telling host Stuart Varney:

But, when he was confronted by reporters and asked to provide substantiation for his claims, Cruz turned into a snotty little douchebag.

A reporter asked the senator:

“Senator, why do you think you know this was a liberal clerk who leaked this? Do you have information that suggests that?”

Cruz huffily replied:

“Because I’m not a moron. Because I live on planet earth. Because this is obviously an attempt from someone who is unhappy about the direction the Court is going, to put political pressure on the Justices to change their outcome. That is the only reason this gets leaked, and you know that. Come on, you’re a reporter in Washington DC.”

That led the reporter to inquire about the possibility that a conservative might have leaked the opinion because “they supported the original [Roe] decision and want to lock them [the Justices] back in. That’s a completely reasonable scenario, isn’t it?”

Cruz:

“You know what, I, I, I, find that ludicrous. But if it’s the case, maybe you’ll win a Pulitzer for that.”

The reporter countered:

“Well you’re saying you have no evidence.”

That led Cruz to retort:

“I think it’s obvious what’s going on here. And, and, and, we’ve all seen leaks often enough in this town, just not at the Supreme Court. This has never happened in any case ever, and it is truly horrifying.”

Actually, it has indeed happened in another case. Ironically, the 1973 Roe v. Wade opinion which gave women the right to make their own reproductive choices was also leaked.

If indeed it can be proven that a conservative leaked the draft, someone needs to play today’s video for Cruz and get his reaction. He might just cry.

Oh, and Ted Cruz is indeed a moron. His own words indict him on that count.

Sen. Mazie Hirono Puts Ted Cruz On Blast For Getting Upset About All The Wrong Things

During a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was apoplectic about the leaking of a draft Supreme Court opinion that would overturn 1973’s Roe v. Wade ruling which gave American women the right to make their own reproductive choices, including the right to a safe, legal abortion.

According to Cruz, if one “criminal law clerk” can leak draft SCOTUS decisions, “it does possibly permanent damage to the Supreme Court.”

That led Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) to light into Cruz and remind him that he and other Republicans have tried to downplay the seriousness of what took place on January 6, 2021, and yet they now want to raise holy hell about a leaked court opinion, noting that she was “frankly shocked” that Republicans are still “shocked by the leak rather than the fact that we have radical right-wing justices on our Supreme Court who are poised to take away a constitutional right — not just any right, but a constitutional right that women in our country have relied on for almost 50 years.”

Hirono then added:

“And to listen to my colleagues going on about comments that are made by organizations and individuals, that is called free speech the last time I looked, and I know for a fact that the Republicans are constantly talking about free speech rights — in fact, even describing the January 6 riot as legitimate political discourse.”

Sen. Hirono is absolutely right. Republicans have repeatedly poo-pooed the fact that Trump supporters attacked the seat of government in order to try and carry out a coup that would overturn the results of a free and fair election. They were aided in their efforts by senators such as Cruz and Josh Hawley (R-MO), both of whom wanted to delay the certification of the electoral votes on Jan. 6 in order to give Trump and his allies more time to carry out their nefarious plans.

A leaked document is a bigger threat than a violent attack on the Capitol? Ted Cruz needs to shut his trap and hang his head in shame.

‘Dementia Don’ Endorses Wrong Senate Candidate During Sunday Rally In Nebraska

Failed, one-term former President Donald Trump loves to mock others when they make a mistake, and yet he proved again on Sunday that if anyone is in need of retiring from the public spotlight to avoid further humiliation, it’s clearly him.

Speaking at a rally in Greenwood, Nebraska, the twice-impeached ex-president went over a partial list of candidates he’s endorsed:

“You know, in Texas, on endorsements, I was 33 and 0, and if I lost one race they’d say, ‘Trump was humiliated.’ That’s what they’re waiting for one race. You know we’ve endorsed Dr. Oz. We’ve endorsed JP? JD Mandel.”

As HuffPost notes, Trump messed that one up big time:

The name he was searching for was J.D. Vance, venture capitalist and “Hillbilly Elegy” author who has no experience in politics. (And it’s Josh Mandel; he’s running against Vance in the GOP primary on May 3.)

And in a case of perfect irony, Trump managed to screw up Vance’s name just minutes after he had bragged about how incredibly intelligent and mentally sharp he is, again referencing the 10-minute mental acuity test administered to him by Dr. Ronny Jackson.

Twitter had a field day with Trump’s blunder:

WATCH A Republican Senator Make A Complete A*s Of Himself While Questioning AG Garland

Louisiana Republican Sen. John Kennedy is one of the most annoying and arrogant people in Congress, and he made a complete ass of himself on Tuesday during a hearing with Attorney General Merrick Garland, proving just how completely clueless many in the GOP are when it comes to the issue of law enforcement.

Kennedy began his remarks by attacking Garland:

“I think the Justice Department is losing. I think you’re losing on crime. I think you’re losing on drugs. I think you’re losing on immigration. I think you’re losing on Chirenese espionage.”

From there, Kennedy asked about dirty cops:

“Let me start with crime. What percentage of cops in America do you think are bad cops?”

Garland:

“A very small percentage.”

Rather than let the attorney general continue his remarks, Kennedy interrupted to ask:

“How small? Is it less than 10%?”

AG Garland responded:

“Yes, let me be clear. We believe that most police officers follow the Constitution. Most police departments do. All police officers, I believe, want to work in police departments that follow constitutional policing requirements.”

Next, Kennedy asked about stop and frisk, though he was hardly able to call it by its proper name:

“Why doesn’t the Justice Department support stop question, and frisk?”

Garland replied:

“I don’t know that the Justice Department has a position. This is a state and local role normally”

Rather than accept that response, Kennedy asked:

“Why doesn’t the Justice Department aggressively encourage law enforcement officials to use that technique? It’s been declared constitutional as you know?”

The AG again noted that stop and frisk is left to local law enforcement, which led to an extended rant from Sen. Cornpone:

“Here’s what I’m asking. Let’s take Chicago, where you have, we haven’t made any inroads and stopping the killing. Chicago is now the world’s largest outdoor shooting range. We know that a lot of the shootings come from gangs. Why wouldn’t you want to call the police chief, the mayor in Chicago, and say, ‘look, you know who these gang members are. When you have reasonable suspicion, and objective standard, more than just a hunch, why don’t you aggressively stop, question, and frisk these gang members?’ You get guns off the street. You’ll get drugs off the street and you get at a lot of gang members off the street. You’ll stop people killing each other. Why won’t you do that?”

Garland patiently tried to explain:

“The best way for the federal government to stop violent crime is to work at each local level and determine and let the state and locals determine what the best use of their –“

Kennedy rudely interrupted the attorney general yet again:

“I’m sorry to interrupt. I’m trying to get some answers. Why won’t you do that?”

Garland answered:

“Because there is no one solution fits all that the federal government can suggest to state and local law enforcement.”

Someone needs to explain some basic facts to Sen. Kennedy. Then again, as stupid as he seems to be, all the explanations in the world would probably leave him nonplussed.
