Greene Claims DeSantis’ 2024 Campaign Launch On Twitter Isn’t ‘Serious’ Because Social Media Is ‘Not Real’

Even though he formally filed paperwork today making it official that he will be seeking the 2024 Republican presidential nomination and is scheduled to publicly announce his intentions on Twitter Spaces with Twitter CEO Elon Musk later this evening, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis isn’t really “serious” about being president because he’s doing so on social media, according to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

Greene made her comments on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast today, asserting that DeSantis needs to be in front of a large group of people to be taken seriously.

“You don’t announce that you’re running for President of the United States in some kind of weird little Twitter world,” Greene shrieked. “It’s not a real world! Twitter is not real! So I can’t comprehend why that would be the place to do the announcement. It makes no sense to me and it’s not serious!”

Of course, the irony of Greene’s comments cannot be overstated. After all, her lord and savior, Donald Trump, spent his entire presidency announcing things (including the hiring and firing of staff) on Twitter. It was his preferred mode of communication before he was booted from the platform for his repeated lies about the 2020 election, which was won in a landslide by President Joe Biden.

Greene also uses Twitter to excess, sharing videos of her demented rantings dozens of times each and every day.

As you might expect, Twitter users had some choice words for the Georgia Republican.

Florida’s GOP Senators Have Had Quite Enough Of Ron DeSantis’ War On Disney

It’s been another bad week for Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who saw the Walt Disney Company announce it would be canceling its plans to build a $1 billion office complex in Lake Nona, Florida that would have meant 2,000 new jobs in the Sunshine State.

Asked if Disney’s plans would cause him to rethink his ongoing war with the company, DeSantis remarked, “They can do whatever they want . . . the chance of us backing down from that is zero.”

Not everyone in Florida agrees with DeSantis’ selfish attacks on Disney, which first drew his ire when they opposed his “Don’t Say Gay” legislation which forbids any discussion of gender or sexual identity, even if such conversations are begun by high school students or involve the possible formation of support groups for LGBTQ students at public schools.

Among the voices publicly disagreeing with DeSantis are its two GOP senators, Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, according to Newsweek.

Scott had this to say:

“This is the biggest or second-biggest employer in the state. Half the tourism that comes to our state comes to visit Disney. It’s a reason people come to our state. After they come there, people move there. So I think cooler heads need to prevail. My view is we have to do everything to help our businesses grow.”

And a month ago, Rubio weighed in during an interview on Fox:

“I think where it gets problematic in the eyes of some people is when you start creating the idea—and I’m not saying we’re there yet as a state—but the idea that somehow if you run crossways with us politically, whoever’s in charge, then you may wind up in the crosshairs of the legislature for political purposes to make a statement at you.”

Of course, the real reason for DeSantis being so eager to attack Disney is purely political. He wants to position himself to the right of failed former president Donald Trump on social issues in the hope of appealing to Republican primary voters who will choose the 2024 GOP presidential nominee, even if his selfish attacks on Disney wind up costing his state economically. That alone proves that he’s unfit for any public office, and suggests his message to voters will be one of anger and division, which may sell in the primaries but will make him unelectable come November of 2024.

Florida Loses 2,000 Jobs After Disney Pulls $1 Billion Development Project From The State

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) loves to say that if he becomes president, he’ll run the country much the way he runs the Sunshine State.

If that’s true, news today from the Walt Disney Company suggests the United States would be in a deep recession within six months of DeSantis taking the oath of office.

According to CNBC and The New York Times, Disney has scrapped plans to open a new employee campus in Lake Nona, Florida, a decision that will cost the state 2,000 jobs and over $1 billion in potential profits.

Citing “changing business conditions” and the return of CEO Bob Iger, Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney’s parks, experiences and products division, penned a memo to employees Thursday, announcing that the company will not move forward with construction of the campus and will no longer be asking more than 2,000 California-based employees to relocate to Florida.

“This was not an easy decision to make, but I believe it is the right one,” D’Amaro told employees.

The decision by Disney is the latest sparring between the company and DeSantis, who has targeted the multinational corporation simply because it dared to publicly disagree with his anti-LGBTQ law — “Don’t Say Gay” — that limits the discussion of gender identity or sexual orientation in Florida classrooms, even if the topic is raised by students.

Disney has also filed suit against the state for targeting its special Reedy Creek Improvement District, which allowed the company to operate virtually independent of any government intrusion.

DeSantis is expected to announce his bid for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination sometime next week.

Mehdi Hasan Goes Biblical On Ron DeSantis And It’s Absolutely Perfect

MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan is sick and tired of conservatives such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) rushing to the defense of Daniel Perry, who is accused of manslaughter for allegedly killing Jordan Neely on a New York City subway by placing in a chokehold that led to his death.

Perry has been charged with manslaughter by the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and yet DeSantis saw fit to call Perry a “good Samaritan” for his actions.

That dichotomy led Hasan to tell fellow MSNBC host Ayman Mohyeldin on Sunday evening, “I’m a Muslim, but I’ve read my Bible. I’ve read the Gospel of Luke, the parable of the good Samaritan who helps the injured traveler after the priest and another man failed to do so. I don’t remember the good Samaritan choking the traveler to death.”

Mohyeldin agreed with Hasan, noting, “They are not a party that demonstrates compassion in the spirit of Christianity.”

Hasan added that he had a bit of advice for Christians who act in un-Christian ways:

“Maybe they should fund free Bibles like you get in hotel rooms to Trump supporters to actually read the parable of the good Samaritan.”

DeSantis and the current rogue’s gallery of 21st century Republicans are nothing more than blatant hypocrites who think that if Jesus were riding on the subway, he’d be toting an AR-15 and daring people to make his day.

GOP Ron DeSantis WTF?!

Wait Until You Hear Ron DeSantis’ Conspiracy Theory About The Federal Reserve Taking Away Guns And Gasoline

To hear some political pundits tell it, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is the only Republican who can possibly challenge and beat failed one-term former president Donald Trump and win the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

But if DeSantis wants to present himself as a rational and sane alterative to the often bizarre and downright unhinged ex-president who may well be under indictment in three jurisdictions by this time next year, comments he’s made recently about the Federal Reserve aren’t going to help calm those considering casting a ballot for the Sunshine State governor.

Back in March, Steve Benen, the producer of “The Rachel Maddow Show” on MSNBC, wrote this on MaddowBlog:

“I saw some weird guy on Twitter this week peddling an unhinged conspiracy theory about liberals secretly plotting to use the Federal Reserve and some unnamed digital currency to prevent Americans from buying firearms and gasoline. We’ve probably all seen assorted oddballs peddling strange ideas online, but this one was a doozy. Wait, did I say the idea came from some weird guy on Twitter? What I meant to say was that it came from the governor of Florida — who also happens to be a leading, albeit unannounced, candidate for Republican Party’s 2024 presidential nomination.”

Yes, a digital currency that would prevent anyone from purchasing firearms or gas. See, it’s all part of that great liberal conspiracy to disarm Americans and make them buy electric cars.

More recently, Catherine Rampell of The Washington Post has noted that “seems pretty bonkers for a major, supposedly mainstream politician to attack the Federal Reserve for trying to steal your guns.”

And yet, DeSantis has indeed done just that, as if eager to prove that he too is just as crazy and intellectually-challenged as Dotard Donnie.

Visiting Pennsylvania recently, DeSantis told a group:

“They want the Fed to control a digital dollar,” he said. “Guess what’ll happen? They’re going to try to impose an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) agenda through that. You go and use too much gas, they’re going to stop it. They’re not going to honor the transaction because you’ve already bought more than what they think. You wanna go buy a rifle, they’re going to say no, you have too many, too many of those, you can’t do it. So it’s ceding the power of our financial freedom to a central bank which does not have our interest at heart.”

What’s next? Will Donald try to trump Ron by claiming that the Fed’s actual plan is to carve the number “666” on our palms in keeping with the Biblical admonitions warning of a coming Antichrist? If so, he might just be able to woo back the evangelical Christians who are starting to have second thoughts about him.
