Just how desperate are Republicans to try and make sure that a bipartisan immigration bill doesn’t pass both houses of Congress and give President Joe Biden a major win? So much so that they’re willing to spout blatant lies on social media in a pathetic effort to stir up hatred against anyone who wants to immigrate to the United States.
Such is the case with Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), who tweeted out an easily debunked falsehood about the hijackers who carried out the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States.

As you can see from the Reader’s Context added to Lankford’s posting, he’s simply not telling the truth. He’s trying to score political points with bullshit, and he got called out for it by numerous people on Twitter/X.

During a 15-hour long hearing of the House Homeland Security Committee on Tuesday evening to discuss the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Rep. Rob Menendez (D-NJ) excoriated his Republican colleagues for using the issue of border security to boost their likely 2020 presidential nominee, Donald Trump.
According to HuffPost, Menendez “said the House Homeland Security Committee has held 17 hearings on the border, but zero full committee hearings on other issues within its jurisdiction such as emergency preparedness, cyber threats, infrastructure protection and more.”
“We have not lived up to our oversight obligation here on this committee because you all are obsessed with the border,” Menendez said. “Because you bend the knee to the ‘Orange Jesus’ as you refer to him across the aisle.”

Former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney (WY) revealed in her 2023 book that Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) referred to Trump as the Orange Jesus. Green is now chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.
Menendez went on to call the impeachment hearings a “sham,” adding, “I’ve tried to listen here. I try to be a team player, I really do. I try not to engage in the partisanship. But I’ve had it.”

Perhaps sensing that he cannot possibly win the 2024 presidential election, failed one-term former president Donald Trump went on an extended social media rant Saturday evening in which he claimed Democrats were registering “unvetted migrants” to vote next November.
On his failing Truth Social site, the disgraced ex-president wrote:
“It’s becoming more and more obvious to me why the “Crazed” Democrats are allowing millions and millions of totally unvetted migrants into our once great Country,” Trump told his followers. “IT’S SO THEY CAN VOTE, VOTE, VOTE.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) says failed former president Donald Trump is right to warn his supporters that immigrants to the United States are “poisoning the blood” of the country.
Trump made those comments Saturday during a campaign rally in Durham, New Hampshire, remarking, “They poison mental institutions and prisons all over the world, not just in South America… but all over the world.”
“They’re coming into our country, from Africa, from Asia, all over the world. They’re pouring into our country. Nobody is even looking at them, they just come in and the crime is going to be tremendous, the terrorism is going to be.”

Graham was asked by Kristen Welker of NBC News if Trump’s Hitleresque language bothered him.
“The Biden campaign has accused former President Trump of, quote, parroting Adolf Hitler,” Welker noted. “Are the President’s comments representative of how you and other Republicans feel?”
Graham replied, “76% of the American people, not Donald Trump, believe the border is broken. They’re worried about fentanyl coming over and killing their kids.”
Welker: “But what about his language, Senator? Just that language, that poisoning the blood.”
The senator doubled down.
“I’m worried about an outcome. He is right. He had the border secured, the lowest in 40 years, in December of 2020.”
“To the Biden administration, you’re talking about Donald Trump’s language,” he continued. “As you sit on the sidelines and allowed the country to be invaded, 172 people on the terrorist watch list have come on your watch.”
But what about the evocation of language used by Adolf Hitler? Welker pressed.
Graham got angry.
“You know, we’re talking about language. I could care less what language people use as long as we get it right.”
“If you think you’re going to win the debate on illegal immigration by picking a line out of the Trump speech. Most Americans understand the game has to change, that we’re under threat, that we’re going to get attacked, that our border has completely been obliterated.”
Hillary Clinton was absolutely right when she called Trump and his defenders “deplorables.”
During the four years of the Trump administration, Stephen Miller was one of failed, one-term former President Donald Trump’s closest and most influential advisers, especially on the issue of immigration, where he urged Trump to separate immigrant children from their parents and place them into internment camps reminiscent of the horrors inflicted upon Japanese Americans during the Second World War.
But if one member of Congress has her way, Miller will soon be facing charges of violating the human rights of thousands of people.

And while Rep. Escobar will no doubt have plenty of Democratic colleagues who also believe Miller should indeed be locked up for the things he did to immigrants seeking asylum in the United States, she acknowledges that it will be a challenge to get the former White House adviser formally charged for his crimes against humanity:
“That is going to be very difficult, but it kills me that these people could potentially walk away and even potentially rebuild their reputations. I find them to be just among the most reprehensible, abhorrent people that our generation could have ever produced.”
The House Judiciary Committee is currently taking a long look at the way the Trump administration dealt the issue of immigration, including the incarceration of toddlers in horrific conditions: Forced to sleep on cement floors, denied essentials such as soap and toothpaste, and treated like criminals.
For his part, Miller just formed a new legal nonprofit organization he calls America First Legal, which he claims is aimed at “resisting the radical left’s agenda.”
Sounds just like something a neo-fascist would say, doesn’t it?
