DOJ ‘Likely’ To Indict Trump’s ‘Whole Criminal Gang’ For Jan. 6: Harvard Law Professor

Even though he’s already on the hook for 37 criminal counts handed down by a grand jury empaneled by Justice Department Special Counsel Jack Smith as a result of his mishandling classified documents, failed former president Donald Trump and those who helped him plan and carry out the January 6, 2021 Capitol insurrection are also likely to face serious charges for their role in what transpired that day, according to Harvard University Professor Emeritus Laurence Tribe.

Tribe’s comments came a day after a report from the Washington Post that Smith’s team of investigators will be traveling to the state of Georgia on Wednesday to interview Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who was pressured by Trump to “fine” nearly 12,000 votes so he could be declared winner in the Peach State.

“This would be Raffensperger’s first interview with the Justice Department.

“The Justice Department’s investigation of efforts by Donald Trump and his advisers to overturn the 2020 election results is barreling forward on multiple tracks, according to people familiar with the matter, with prosecutors focused on ads and fundraising pitches claiming election fraud as well as plans for ‘fake electors’ that would swing the election to the incumbent president.”

A main focus of Smith’s ongoing investigation, the Post notes, “is the conduct of a handful of lawyers who sought to turn Trump’s defeat into victory by trying to convince state, local, federal and judicial authorities that Joe Biden’s 2020 election win was illegitimate or tainted by fraud.”

The attorneys in question are Rudy Giuliani, Jenna Ellis, John Eastman, Kurt Olsen, Kenneth Chesebro, and Jeffrey Clark, according to the Post.

In response to the report and a tweet from New York University School of Law professor of law Ryan Goodman, Tribe wrote, “This tells me Smith is likely to ask a grand jury to indict the whole criminal gang that conspired to overturn the presidential election and overthrow the government. That includes Trump at the wheel’s center and his corrupt fellow seditionists and insurrectionists as its spokes.”

It will also be interesting to see if Special Counsel Smith decides to indict any Republican members of Congress who allegedly played a role in Jan. 6. Among those who are known to have been active in the Capitol insurrection are Reps. Andy Biggs of Arizona, Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, and Matt Gaetz of Florida.

Will Smith make a clean sweep and get all of the co-conspirators? If he does, the country would be a hell of a lot safer as a result.

Ex-Prosecutors: Proud Boy Guilty Verdicts Make It More Likely Trump Will Be Charged For Jan. 6

The convictions of four members of the domestic terrorist group the Proud Boys in federal court today on charges of seditious conspiracy is a major blow to a group that played a significant role in the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

But it’s also bad news for failed one-term, twice-impeached former president Donald Trump according to two legal experts, and it likely means that Special Counsel Jack Smith will be including charges against the ex-president for his role in Jan. 6.

Former federal prosecutor Elie Honig said Thursday on CNN, “First of all, these verdicts are a statement; they are proof of concept. Now for the third time we see that the DOJ is fully capable of charging seditious conspiracy and getting convictions.”

Honig added that the model prosecutors used against the Proud Boys could also be used against Trump.

“Also if you look at the way they didn’t have one smoking gun. Instead what they did, was they put together all the evidence, testimony, and documents showing that there was talk of revolution insurrection and that they had a plan to go to the Capitol and stay in coordination,” he noted. “So you can see how that model could be used against Donald Trump and others.”

Another federal prosecutor, Dennis Aftergut, echoed Honig in an op-ed he wrote for MSNBC.

The convictions add to the former president’s legal woes. Recall the first presidential debate in 2020, when Trump famously told the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by.” The effect of that callout to the militants became visible to the nation on Jan. 6, and again to the jury here. At trial, the government introduced a message from one Proud Boy who wrote right after the debate that “Donald has given us a command.” Prosecutors also introduced the group’s messages suggesting that some coordination with the White House may have occurred before Jan. 6.

And that’s bad news for Donald., Aftergut concludes:

With these latest foot soldiers’ convictions, the baton now passes to special counsel Jack Smith and to Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis to complete the task by bringing accountability to the very top. History has been made. There is more to come.

Or, to use Trump’s own words, Stand back and stand by.

Iraq War Vet Humiliates Marjorie Taylor Greene For Visiting Jailed J6 Rioters

Earlier today, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) visited some of the January 6, 2021 rioters who attacked the Capitol and led to the death of five people on that horrific day.

Afterwards, Greene issued a statement in which she praised herself and tried to suggest that the J6 prisoners were somehow being treated unfairly, despite the fact that they participated in an insurrection against the U.S. government at the behest of failed former president Donald Trump.

“We toured the DC Jail today and held a press conference outside the jail after our tour. This man assaulted everyone there by blowing a whistle as loud in as he could in other’s ears and tried multiple times to assault me and other members. My staff and others like this very nice lady did their best to block him. He needs to be arrested and we tried to have him arrested. My staffer called 911 and reached an automated recording for several minutes before reaching a human. Reported the guy. She then asked the jail to send out an officer and they refused. This is just another example out of a million others that the left does repeatedly without accountability. Funny thing is the same guy was outside our press conference at the DOJ in 2021. Sounds like a direct threat, ‘Don’t touch! Touch you die!'”

Not long after Greene made her pilgrimage to the jail in Washington, D.C., Retired U.S. Army Sergeant, Kristofer Goldsmith, an Iraq War veteran, ripped the congresswoman apart on MSNBC.

“Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and the rest of those far-right Republicans care about January 6 defendants exactly as much as they care about veterans.”

Goldsmith added:

“We are great photo ops for them; we are great fundraising tools for them. But I know from walking around Capitol Hill for years and trying to talk to Republicans about improving veterans’ healthcare, that they will not get involved in anything meaningful, like criminal justice reform. They’re going to send out a bunch of emails, they’re going there to get a bunch of donations from their rubes, and those people are going to still sit in prison because they broke the law.

“That’s where they belong, and they are being treated with due process the way that anybody else who breaks the law is going to get treated. So, you know, I am disappointed to see them do that, but these people disappoint me every day, so it’s not a surprise.”

If you rioted at the Capitol on Jan. 6, you’re a domestic terrorist and deserve to be treated accordingly. Don’t like it? Then you’d better stay home the next time some American Hitler urges you to march.

Jamie Raskin Goes Viral With Withering Takedown Of GOP Lies About January 6

Maryland Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin is fed up with the lies being peddled by his Republican colleagues and their echo chamber at Fox News, so he’s laying a devastating fact-check on those who continue to try and minimize what happened on January 6, 2021 at the U.S. Capitol when thousands of Trump supporters attacked Congress and tried to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

On the floor of the House Wednesday, Raskin offered a devastating rebuttal to those who still make excuses for the Capitol insurrection, labeling their lies “nonsense.”

It all begins, Raskin noted, with “Donald Trump’s Big Lie” that a second term in office was stolen from him.

“They say, ‘Who knows, maybe he won, maybe he didn’t. You say Joe Biden’s president, we say Donald Trump’s president.’ Nonsense!”

Raskin added:

“Sixty federal and state courts rejected every claim of electoral fraud and corruption that they put forward. Sixty. They don’t have a single court that ever ruled in their favor. Donald Trump lost that election by more than seven million votes, 306-232 in the Electoral College.”

As a result, Raskin said, “Their Big Lie has to stretch all the way over January 6. We have to disbelieve the evidence of our own eyes and our own ears. We saw them come and descend upon this chamber, this Congress, wounding and injuring 150 of our police officers, breaking people’s noses, breaking people’s fingers, putting people in the hospital, and already they’re back on the news with big lies saying, ‘No, no, no, it was a tourist visit.'”

The Maryland Democrat also slammed Republicans and Fox for continuing to suggest that Jan. 6 was a peaceful protest, writing on Twitter:

“Tucker Carlson’s assault on the truth about January 6 is unconscionable, but more scandalous yet is Kevin McCarthy’s central role in its design. America, we cannot let McCarthy and Carlson become the Orwellian editors of our past or the authoritarian authors of our future.”

Jan. 6 was an attack on the American republic by domestic terrorists and their GOP supporters in Congress. If we forget or even minimize that fact, it could well happen again.

Trump Releases A ‘Song’ With Some Of The Jan. 6 Defendants – And It’s BEYOND Disgusting

Once again proving that he has no conscience, no heart, and a coal-black soul, disgraced former president Donald Trump has joined with some of the domestic terrorists and insurrectionists who attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 to record and release a song for the purpose of raising money for their legal bills.

According to Zach Everson of Forbes:

The track interpolates Trump reciting the Pledge of Allegiance into “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which is performed by a group of about 20 inmates, called the J6 Prison Choir, housed at the Washington, D.C. jail. The song ends with the inmates chanting, “USA!”

Profits are slated to benefit the families of people imprisoned for their alleged roles in the Capitol riots that left five people dead.

Trump recorded the Pledge of Allegiance at Mar-a-Lago a couple of weeks ago, specifically for this track. The inmates, who sing the national anthem nightly, were recorded over a jailhouse phone about a month ago. The song, which runs 2 minutes and 20 seconds, was reportedly produced by a major recording artist who was not identified.

Who is eligible to receive money from the fund created for the insurrectionist scum? Anyone, unless they’re charged with assaulting a police officer, which is ironic when you consider that none of the Jan. 6 attackers or Trump himself seemed the least bit concerned with the brave cops who had to fight against the MAGA mob that was chanting “Hang Mike Pence!” as they breached the Capitol entrance and began looking for Democrats they could execute.

Not horrible enough? Well, how about this tidbit: Trump insisted that he be allowed to participate in the recording.

A different recording project involving the inmates had been discussed, according to a person with knowledge of the project granted anonymity so they could speak candidly about the track before it was released. But when Trump heard about the original plan, the former president asked to be directly involved.

A terrorist ex-president aiding people who tried to kill members of Congress. That alone should invalidate Trump’s quest for a second term in office.
