#Roevember Is Trending On Social Media – And Republicans Are Now Admitting They’ll Lose The Midterms

The Dobbs decision changed everything.

When the Supreme Court ruled in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization in June, the political landscape of the upcoming midterm elections was turned on its ear and Republicans were suddenly placed on the defensive, trying to explain why they wanted to take a right away from women that they’d had for a half-century.

Now, three months after Dobbs, some polls are showing that Democrats are now favored in the generic ballot to keep control of both the House and Senate, an outcome that seemed impossible when gas prices were above $4 a gallon in most states.

As a result of the Supreme Court abortion ruling and new polling data, one hashtag has gone viral on Twitter: #Roevember. And that has spawned T-shirts that showing up all around the country.

Are Republicans worried yet? Yes they are, and they’re sounding the alarm, according to The Hill:

Rick Tyler, a Republican strategist and analyst, said the environment looks “not even close” to a red wave election year.

“The enthusiasm is just not there,” Tyler said. “Last time Republicans had a good year, they were 6 points ahead in the generic poll. Now we’re barely 2 points ahead. So it’s definitely not going to happen.”

Tyler’s numbers, however, are either not up to date or he’s hedging, as the most recent polling average from Real Clear Politics shows the generic poll lead for the GOP has shrunk from 4.8 points in June to a single point now, a statistical dead heat when you factor in the margin of error.

The other drag on Republicans: Donald Trump.

And in the wake of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision and the controversy surrounding Trump over Jan. 6, 2021, and the FBI’s seizure of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Democrats are aiming to emphasize negatives on Republicans rather than make the election a referendum on Biden or Democratic leadership.

Rick Tyler, a Republican strategist and political analyst says the “red wave” is not going to happen, and he places the blame on Trump:

“Donald Trump has turned this campaign from a referendum on Joe Biden, inflation, high food prices, high gas prices and affordable housing into a referendum on him.”

Well of course he has! That’s what malignant narcissists do. And this time it could wind up being what finally puts the GOP into a position of never winning another major election for the next decade or two. That would be a fitting punishment for a political party that tried to orchestrate a coup to keep their political god in power.

Insecure Trump Accuses Ron DeSantis Of Ripping Off His Hand Gestures And ‘Style’

As if he doesn’t have more than enough problems at the moment, disgraced, one-term, twice-impeached former president Donald Trump is now obsessing over what he perceives to be a threat to his primacy as head of the Republican Party: The hand gestures being used by Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis when he speaks on the stump.

According to a fascinating article in Rolling Stone, Trump has even suggested he might want to sue DeSantis for using his gestures and “style,” as if such things are protected by copyright.

Trump has a distinctive (and much-satirized) way of gesticulating while casually talking, delivering political speeches, or even “firing” contestants on his former game show. The sources note that when Trump has seen video clips of of DeSantis speaking at public events over the past year and a half, the former president has scornfully mocked the ascendant Florida Republican for appearing to imitate his body language, movements, and even, at times, speaking rhythm. One of the other sources recalls Trump joking at a dinner event earlier this year that he should sue DeSantis for copyright infringement.

Even some members of the ex-president’s inner circle have noticed the imitations and suggested that it goes far beyond just gestures, suggesting that DeSantis even steals policy ideas from the Donald:

The alleged rip-offs have raised eyebrows with other members of “America First” royalty. Donald Trump Jr. has told those close to him that he has noticed an uncanny pattern: Often he will tweet something from @DonaldJTrumpJr — a culture-war grievance or a burgeoning trend among the online right — and then very soon after, he will see those specific topics incorporated into the Florida governor’s talking points. This has happened enough times that Trump’s eldest son has come to believe, according to a person familiar with the matter, that DeSantis and his staff likely look to his Twitter account for inspiration and to raid it for their latest policy ideas or red-meat-hurling rhetoric.

Of course, all of this is emblematic of a much larger fissure taking place inside the GOP as 2024 approaches and both DeSantis and Trump may wind up facing each other for the presidential nomination, which remains unclear since Trump may well be under indictment by the time the primaries are held.

But if the two do wind up facing each other in 2024, the primary debates should be a blast to watch, especially if Trump accuses him of imitating his “style,” which of course is little than bravado and bullshit.

Polling Expert Says One Often-Overlooked Group Of Voters Could Help Democrats Win The Midterms

Six months ago, as gas prices and inflation seemed to be spiraling out of control, the predicted midterm “red wave” appeared to be a foregone conclusion. Democrats would lose control of the House and Senate, pollsters predicted.

But with the election now just a little more than two months away, pollsters are having to recalculate their prediction models and are suggesting that Democrats may actually emerge victorious, which would be an enormous boost for President Joe Biden.

According to Harvard Polling expert John Della Volpe, the 2022 election looks a great deal like what we saw in 2018, as he explained to Mehdi Hassan of MSNBC:

“The reason that Democrats have control of the House, the Senate, and the White House is because of younger Americans. Donald Trump, in the big five battleground states, of 2020, won the vote of everyone over the age of 45. It is young people, under the age of 30, who won Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, by an average of 20 points. That’s the reason we have President Biden in the White House today, not President Trump.”

He continued:

“And now what we’re seeing…to me, it looks a lot like 2018. People did not expect to see a Democratic wave. They didn’t expect to see young people turn out. Days before the election, eyes were rolling among pundits. And we’re seeing the same thing I think today. Young people say they are angry, young people are registering, young people are showing up in real numbers in these primaries, in Kansas and other places. I think it’s very very likely that we see a significant change in the face of the electorate over the next several weeks.”

Lindsey Graham Ominously Predicts: If Trump Is Prosecuted, ‘There’ll Be Riots In The Streets’

It now appears that disgraced ex-president Donald Trump is in the deepest legal jeopardy of his life, ironically because of something he did that he tried to accuse Hillary Clinton of: Mishandling classified information.

Clinton, it should be noted, was not president, and she didn’t have access to the highest level of top-secret data that Trump had as president. Also, Clinton didn’t leave such information laying around in cardboard boxes at a resort where almost anyone could have had access to the documents.

And yet, despite those very different facts, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is warning that if Trump is indicted and prosecuted, there’s going to be rioting in the streets.

Sounds like a threat, doesn’t it?

Appearing on Fox News, Graham said:

“I’ll say this: If there’s a prosecution of Donald Trump for mishandling classified information, after the Clinton debacle … there’ll be riots in the streets.”

Graham got some well-deserved pushback on social media for his remarks:

Ted Cruz Walks Right Into A Spectacular Self-Own When He Complains Joe Biden Doesn’t ‘Respect’ MAGA Republicans

Even though he never gives respect to anyone other than people who don’t deserve it (i.e. Donald Trump), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is angry with President Joe Biden for saying in a stump speech this week that he doesn’t “respect these MAGA Republicans.”

Why would anyone respect the members of a death cult? Are we supposed to respect Jim Jones and David Koresh? If so, count me out.

The MAGA Republicans are also cultish and devoted to the Donald and whatever he does or says. They would follow him off a cliff like lemmings if he told them to. So why do they deserve even a shred of respect?

That statement from the president led Cruz to respond.

Really, Ted? You’re going to take that attitude considering how you repeatedly disrespected Barack Obama and every other member of the Democratic congressional delegation?

Keep in mind just a few of the more disgusting things Cruz has said over the course of his political career:

  • Senator Ted Cruz, the conservative Texas Republican considering a run for the presidency, lashed out at President Barack Obama during a visit to New Hampshire on Sunday, saying his administration had repeatedly trampled on the Constitution.
  • According to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran is essentially financing terrorism. And he’s not backing down after the president called his comments “outrageous.”
  • In the wake of the Paris terrorist attacks, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) said President Obama is not interested in protecting the United States.

But now Cruz wants respect? Instead, he got hit with a Twitter two-by-four.
