Rachel Maddow Explains How Some GOP Senators Are Trying To Shut Down The Russia Probe

Could it be that even as the House and Senate continue with their investigations of possible connections between President Trump and the Russians during the 2016 election that some Republican senators are working behind the scenes to sabotage the Russia probe?

On her show Wednesday evening, Rachel Maddow laid out the case that some members of the Senate Judiciary Committee investigating potential obstruction of justice by the president appear to also be attempting to derail the probe, commenting:

“We’re now seeing Republicans on that committee kind of go after the investigation itself in a way that hasn’t really been picked up on, in a way that hasn’t been widely reported today. It’s happening in plain sight.”

Specifically, Republicans are now asking for documents the FBI requested warrants for. Those documents–many of them involving financial dealings between Trump, his associates, and Russian entities–are key to the ongoing work of both the FBI and Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Maddow explained the significance of this move:

“These Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee are now asking about why you started that investigation, what you have, what you submitted to the court, how you got your warrants. What they appear to be up to is trying to discredit the FBI for having started this investigation at all. What they are implying is that the whole FBI investigation all stemmed from that dossier of allegations against Trump and his campaign that was published in Buzzfeed in January, the Christopher Steele dossier. They’re saying implicitly that the dossier of materials is unproven and suspect and that that’s what the FBI’s whole investigation is based on, and therefore, it’s nonsense.”

What does that mean? It means, Maddow concluded, that Senate Republicans are “trying to stop this thing in its tracks before it comes to its conclusion.”

If this proves to be true, it would suggest that some Congressional Republicans are also complicit and part of a larger conspiracy to shield the president. That’s also a crime.

WATCH Ana Navarro DESTROY Trump Flack Katrina Pierson On Live TV

The always annoying, ignorant, and completely ridiculous Trump shill Katrina Pierson is back, and she’s probably wishing she had stayed home instead of showing up for a debate on CNN with former GOP strategist Ana Navarro on the issue of healthcare.

Pierson represents a super PAC which ran attack ads against Nevada Republican Senator Dean Heller for his opposition to the Senate version of Trumpcare, which would leave as many as 22 million Americans without health insurance if enacted.

The former Trump campaign spokesperson said the PAC ran the negative ads against Heller because he held a press conference, attacked the bill, and then walked away from the negotiating table. Pierson then added:

“Now is not the time to play games with Medicaid expansion or catering to a particular group or electorate. This is about getting this horrible bill …. it’s time for Republicans to do what they said they were going to do.”

No sooner had the words left Pierson’s mouth than Navarro gave her a lesson in how representative democracy works:

“Let me tell you what caving is! Caving is trying to force an elected official, who was elected by his people, to vote against his conscience, to vote against his principles and what thinks are the interest of his people that voted for him and do it by force instead of bringing him to the table and figuring out the solutions. It’s not just Heller, there’s a lot of Republican senators who don’t want to vote for this for one reason or another. And mainly because it’s not good for the people of their state. So, that is caving. Handing in your principles.”

Pierson said Heller ran on repealing Obamacare and that the Affordable Care Act has had a negative impact on the state. That led host Anderson Cooper to ask:

“Isn’t it more important long-term, Heller as a Republican, that Heller gets re-elected instead of a Democrat?”

As usual, Pierson proved how little she understands about politics, telling Cooper:

“We are talking about far more seats if they don’t address it now, and that’s the problem.”

Once again, Navarro schooled the dense Trumpkin by reminding her:

“When you’ve got a two-seat majority, one seat matters.”

Media in America WTF?!

Delusional Hannity Says He And Newt Have Been ‘Sole Voice’ Of ‘Sanity In The Media’

There are few people more insufferable, obnoxious, asinine, or patently incorrect than Fox News host Sean Hannity and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. Both love to pontificate on any and every subject under the sun, but neither has the first clue what he’s talking about.

Hannity’s latest soapbox for his inane rants is the investigation into possible collusion between the Trump team and Russia during the 2016 election. The Fox host and his thrice-married cohort were discussing the situation Monday night, and Hannity took a moment to pucker up and kiss both himself and Gingrich right on the butt cheeks, commenting:

“You know, Mr. Speaker. I kinda feel in many ways we’ve been––and you’ve been included in this and you’ve been an enormous help with great analysis––we’ve almost been a sole voice here of sanity in the media.”

But Sean was far from finished patting himself and the serial philanderer on the back, noting that he and Gingrich “saw a problem with the tarmac and [Attorney General] Loretta Lynch,” “the investigation versus mission,” and “we saw the unhealthy conflicts with Comey and [Special Counsel Robert] Mueller.”

Oh yes, it’s all a big conspiracy! People with facts deal in facts. But when you have no actual facts like Hannity, you just spin some bullshit out of straw and proclaim it to be evidence of your warped theory. Hannity has been doing this for years, and Gingrich has never gotten over the fact that he tried to impeach President Clinton, failed, and lost his own job because he got caught screwing one the aides in his congressional office.

Whether right wingers like it or not, Robert Mueller will carry this investigation through to its conclusion if he’s left alone and not hindered. And whatever he finds will be the final say on the matter. If Hannity and Gingrich are so damn convinced that Trump is innocent, they should welcome the investigation as a way of exonerating the president.

But Gingrich and Hannity are worried, and they’re desperate to try and change the topic. Nice try, guys, but we’ve seen your B-movie before, and it sucked the first time.

Former CIA Director: Trump’s Tweets Are A ‘Goldmine’ For Foreign Intelligence Agencies

President Trump likes to say the reason he uses Twitter so much is because it’s the only way he can communicate directly with the American people and not have to rely on the news media to get his message out.

But according to former CIA Director Michael Hayden, the president’s tweets are also a treasure trove for foreign intelligence services because they give an unfiltered view of his psyche and are invaluable as they construct psychological profiles of world leaders.

In an article he wrote for The HillHayden warns:

“The president’s Twitter tsunami must be a goldmine for foreign services (including friendly ones) in developing his profile. Press-able buttons, loyalties, exposed nerves, responses to pressure, even sleep habits are on pretty full display.”

Hayden says Trump’s tweets regarding former FBI Director James Comey are particularly revealing, allowing foreign adversaries to determine how the president thinks and will act in a given situation:

“This last series of tweets on Comey and taping offered something more, certainly enough to tempt some services to conclude that the President bluffs and bends the truth to meet the needs of the moment. You can almost anticipate the language in the report: ‘Mr. Prime Minister, you need to know that President Trump appears to be what the Americans call a bullshitter.’”

And the fact that Trump is so easily read could also have disastrous consequences if another country misjudges Trump’s actual meaning, Hayden believes:

“If a foreign leader has reason to believe that the president doesn’t mean what he says, that leader may choose to ignore it and — if he is right — he wins the hand, so to speak. If he is wrong, though, he could trigger American responses that both he and we would have preferred to avoid. Neither are good outcomes.”

How many reasons do Republicans need before they impeach this incredibly unstable and dangerous man? Are they waiting for a nuclear war?

The Trump Adminstration WTF?!

Ivanka Trump–Who Has An Office In The White House–Says, ‘I Try To Stay Out Of Politics’

Even though she has an office in the White House and serves as a top adviser to her father, the president, Ivanka Trump says she avoids politics and tries to stay out of political matters.

If that’s the case, then why does she feel the need to sit in on so many White House meetings and maintain that office?

Appearing on the Trump family’s favorite morning snoozefest, Fox & FriendsIvanka commented:

“I try to stay out of politics. His political instincts are phenomenal. He did something that no one could have imagined he’d be able to accomplish. I feel blessed just being part of the ride from day one and before. But he did something pretty remarkable. But I don’t profess to be a political savant.”

That’s good to hear, Ivanka. Especially since the only thing you’ve managed to accomplish in life is being born with a silver spoon in your mouth and trading on your father’s name as a way to pretend you earn a living.

As a way of pretending she actually has some say in matters involving policy and so she won’t appear to be the sycophant she truly is, Ivanka also said that she often disagrees with daddy:

“So naturally, there are areas where there is disagreement. We’re two different human beings. I think it’s normal to not have 100 percent aligned viewpoints on every issue. I don’t think anyone operates like that with a parent, or within the context of an administration. And I think that all different viewpoints being at the table is a positive thing. And I think one of the things that, in this country we don’t have enough of, is dialogue.”

It’s a bit difficult to have any dialogue with a man who prides himself on being an autocratic fascist who thinks he’s the smartest person in the room when in reality he’s the biggest fool in a town filled with them.
