WATCH Robert Reich Turn Ann Coulter’s Whining About ‘Free Speech’ On Both Her And Trump

Conservatives like Ann Coulter love to complain that those who disagree with them want to violate their free speech rights, even though right wingers are notorious for urging curbs on the First Amendment when someone dares to express an opinion they deem as unacceptable.

Coulter has been in the news this week because she was scheduled to give a speech at the University of California, Berkeley, but some of the Berkeley students didn’t want her on their campus. So This Week host Jonathan Karl had Coulter on his show Sunday morning, along with Robert Reich, who is a professor at Berkeley.

Karl began by asking Coulter if  Donald Trump’s repeated attacks on the media also set a dangerous precedent for free speech. Rather than respond to that, Coulter replied:

“Universities ought to be places where I am not the only conservative most students will hear in four years of college. This whole incident shows the radical insulated left on the college campuses. And the entire left wing, including President [Barack Obama] and Bill Maher, are on the other side.

“And what useless institutions our universities are. The lefties are on the side of the thugs. They’ve taken over the universities. I don’t think anyone learns anything at college anymore. It’s a four year vacation. And I think that’s what people ought to be looking at because the taxpayers are supporting these universities.”

That’s when Reich entered the debate and turned Coulter’s words on both her and the so-called head of state:

“The libel laws should not be widened [as Trump has suggested]. We really do need a free press. One thing that concerns me about the present administration is the willingness of the administration to not only talk about widening the libel laws and also criminal laws — flag burning — but even the president of the United States, last night, using a [rally] in Harrisburg to summon his supporters and criticize the press once again.

“This is dangerous. I mean, if we believe in the First Amendment, we believe in a free and independent press.”

It’s also interesting to note that Coulter used the word “thug” in her little unhinged rant. The biggest thug of them all is Donald Trump himself. He must have learned that from his good friend Vladimir.

CNN’s Ana Navarro Sums Up Trump’s 100 Days: ‘2 Minutes Of Unity’ And ‘Golfed 20 Times’ (VIDEO)

Did Donald Trump accomplish anything in his first 100 days? He managed to pass no legislation, achieved no foreign polity breakthroughs, and his two most hyped executive orders (the travel ban and taking money away from so-called sanctuary cities) were both put on indefinite hold by federal courts.

On CNN’s State of the Union Sunday morning, former GOP strategist Ana Navarro weighed in on the Donald’s first 100 days, and her honesty was refreshing in contrast to bullshit artists in the Republican party who have tried to make excuses for Trump. Navarro commented:

“We know he hasn’t given up golf, he spent 20 percent of the first 100 days of golfing. He did twenty golf trips to my state of Florida  which is really costing taxpayers a lot of money. He golfed 20 times on Trump properties. We know he hasn’t given up tweeting. We know he hasn’t given up promoting his brand or his family. He know he hasn’t given up lying, exaggerating and telling mistruths. And we know he’s riding around in a nice plane, he hasn’t even given up his private jet. So what exactly has he given up?”

And when the topic turned to the rally Trump spoke at Saturday evening rather than attending the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, Navarro again savaged the alleged head of state:

“Listen, in one hundred days he’s had about two minutes of unity. And I will tell you when he introduced the widow of the deceased Navy SEAL at the joint address to Congress, he’s got to do more of that.

“I thought yesterday was so symbolic of the last 100 days and it tells me about the next 100 days. You had Trump, President Trump in Pennsylvania speaking to his base, feeding red meat to the base and being divisive. You had the press celebrating the press standing up for journalism [at the WHCD] and you had the resistance marching in sweltering heat in Washington for climate change and against Trump.”

What can we expect now from Trump? Navarro had the perfect response to that question, too:

“Folks, that’s what the last 100 days has been and that’s what the next 1,360 days are going to be.”

Sometimes it takes a Republican to tell the whole truth about a president from her own party. And that’s exactly what Navarro did. Bravo, Ana!

Fox News Lies Media in America

Fox News Catches Social Media Hell For Tweeting Out ‘Dishonest’ Trump Job Numbers (TWEETS)

Fox News has long been the home of half-truths, lies, and outright propaganda on behalf of the Republican party. While Donald Trump loves to talk about “fake news,” Fox has been specializing in that art form for decades. But this time they’ve been caught and called out for their deception.

On Saturday, Fox News tweeted out some graphics they said demonstrated what a tremendous (i.e. YUUUGE!) effect Donald Trump has had on the economy compared to President Obama’s administration after its first 100 days. They neglected to mention that the American economy was in free fall as a result of the 2008 global financial crash when Obama took office and the numbers they used for Trump are merely holdovers from the last months of the Obama administration:

Within minutes, thousands of people weighed in on the Fox tweets, and they gave the network well-deserved grief for their attempt at rewriting history:

One other thing: On Friday, it was announced that America’s gross domestic product grew at a rate of 0.7% in the first quarter of 2017. That is the slowest growth rate in three years and it belongs to Trump, who, we should recall, has had numerous business ventures go bankrupt.

Rob Reiner Pulls No Punches When Asked About The Trump-Russia Investigation (VIDEO)

As the focus on the Trump-Russia investigation turns once again to former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, the Trump administration attempted this week to shift blame for allowing Flynn in such a high-level position on the Obama White House, which fired Flynn as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2014.

Saturday morning on AM Joy, host Joy Reid asked director and activist Rob Reiner if the Trump team was engaged in “obfuscation.” To that, Reiner replied:

“The truth ultimately will come out. it may take awhile and it is a confusing story, but let’s make no mistake about it. This man who is the head of our country is a pathological liar and everybody around him is lying. There’s no way to other way to look at this thing.”

The award-winning director then added:

“Not only did we know about Michael Flynn, there were a number of articles, there was a letter written by the House Oversight Committee. It was well-known what Michael Flynn was doing, he was fired by Barack Obama, so that is clear.

“The one thing that they have been successful at so far is obfuscating the biggest single story that is permeating this country right now, and that is the invasion of a foreign power, a hostile foreign power into our democracy. And the Michael Flynn story, aside from the fact that he was taking money from Turkey, from Russia, from places and clearly that’s a criminal behavior, the main part of the story, and something that we haven’t even talked about is: why? Why with the White House knowing full well that this is who he was, they still appointed him National Security Adviser?”

But Reiner was far from finished making an incredibly eloquent case against the Trump administration and their alleged ties to Russia:

“That goes to the story of  why Sally Yates has been kicked off the stage. “She’ll now come back on she overheard Michael Flynn talking to Russian ambassador Kislyak about getting rid of the sanctions.

“That’s the story. And that’s where we have to start thinking about the undermining of our democracy.”

Amen, Rob. As the old saying goes:

“Let justice be done though the heavens fall.”

Report: Trump Team DID Vet Flynn, Found Dirt, Hired Him Anyway (VIDEO)

For months now, the Trump administration has maintained they had no idea disgraced former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn had accepted payments from a foreign government. The head of the transition, Vice President Mike Pence, said he first found out Flynn had taken money from the government of Turkey on the day Flynn resigned his post.

But a new report from NBC News reveals the claims from Trump, Pence, and others, are yet another lie the administration has told about the growing Trump-Russia scandal.

On Friday’s edition of The Rachel Maddow Show, the host reported:

“NBC News has learned from sources close to the Trump-Russia investigation that both the Trump transition and the White House did do a background check on Flynn.

“This is in addition to his already approved security clearance. They did a background check on Flynn specifically for him to become national security adviser.”

If this information from longtime correspondent Andrea Mitchell is true, how in the world can the Trump team continue to maintain that they didn’t know Flynn had been working as a foreign agent when he was named to the highest national security post in the United States government?

Maddow also noted that Flynn’s ties to Turkey had to be known to Pence, as the information would have shown up as part of an FBI vetting process (had that process been followed) and the information had been reported on numerous occasions via open source documents:

“One person involved tells NBC that the Trump transition was aware of Flynn’s business ties to Turkey.”

This week, the Trump administration has attempted to place the blame for Flynn being given a classified intelligence clearance on the Obama White House, where Flynn worked as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency before being fired from that post. But Jen Psaki, who worked in the Obama administration, commented:

“The responsibility in vetting [Flynn] belongs on the incoming administration. Clearly that wasn’t done. So this is kind of an absurd blame game here.”

Hearings on the Trump-Russia connection will begin again on May 8 when the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee will hear testimony from former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates and James Clapper, former director of national intelligence under President Obama.
