Mathematically-Challenged Trump Says 5-3 Abortion Ruling Could Have Been Blocked If Scalia Had Been Replaced

If there’s one thing you can always count on when Donald Trump steps to a microphone and makes remarks, it’s that he’s gonna brag on himself. Whether he claims to be the smartest person around or the best businessman in the history of capitalism, the guy is gonna try and impress you. And yet, as we learned today, the man cannot even count.

Trump was being interviewed by radio host Mike Gallagher and Gallagher remarked that just this week the Supreme Court had “handed the pro-life movement a disappointing decision”  by striking down a restrictive Texas law had made it much more difficult for women to get an abortion. The decision was handed down by a 5-3 vote, with one seat on the high court still empty because the GOP-controlled Senate will not even hold confirmation hearings for President Obama’s nominee to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia.

Things would have been much different, Trump told Gallagher, if he’d been President:

“Now if we had Scalia was living or is Scalia was replaced by me, you wouldn’t have had that. Okay? It would have been the opposite.”

Look, I majored in journalism, so I freely admit that math isn’t my strong suit, but even I know that if Scalia had been alive or had been replaced by a justice who was opposed to a woman’s right to choose, the vote could only have been 5-4, in which case the decision would still have been against the Texas law.

Gallagher, almost sensing that Trump was making a fool of himself, then asked this follow-up question:

“So just to confirm. Under a Donald — a President Donald Trump-appointed Supreme Court, you wouldn’t see a majority ruling like the one we had with the Texas abortion law this week.”

Trump’s reply:

“No, you wouldn’t see that. And people understand that.”

This is a man who says he will make “great deals” if he becomes President? Is that right? How about he first give us the solution to this equation or we disqualify him right this minute: 5 + 4 = ? Donald, you have an hour to give us your response, and you are not allowed to use a calculator.

Need proof Trump is a complete and utter moron? Listen to this:

Conservative Host Complains The BET Awards Were ‘Very Black’ This Year (Video)

At Sunday’s BET Awards, actor Jesse Williams gave an incredibly beautiful speech about how we need to end racism in America. If you missed it, Williams said:

“This is for the real organizers all over the country. The activists, the civil rights attorneys, the struggling parents, the families, the teachers, the students, that are realizing that a system built to divide and impoverish and destroy us cannot stand if we do. There has been no war that we have not fought and died on the front lines of. There has been no job we haven’t done, there’s been no tax they haven’t levied against us, and we’ve paid all of them. But freedom is somehow always conditional here.”

But to hear conservative airhead Tomi Lahren, who appears on Glenn Beck’s The Blaze network, you would have thought Williams had just called for riots in the streets and civil war. Lahren commented:

“The BET Awards were last night, notably they were very black. Oh, but can I say that? What with my whiteness and all? Well, too damn bad.”

And because Williams had the audacity to mention the shooting death of Tamir Rice by police, Lahren then went on this rant:

“The term unarmed black man may be literally accurate, but it doesn’t tell the whole story in most cases. In a number of cases, if the victim ended up being unarmed, it was certainly not for a lack of trying.”

Lahren also said she wanted to know “what rights black people don’t have,” adding:

“Also, white people, yeah, we do have a record of critique of your oppression. You know how many of our ancestors fought in the Civil War to free your ancestors? Bloodiest war in the United States history was over what was right and it was largely white people fighting it.

“It’s not white people working to divide America, it’s you! You and Beyonce and Jada Pinkett Smith and Al Sharpton. Do you see yourself as a victim?”

As if all this wasn’t more than enough idiocy from one human being, Lahren used this as her denouement:

“It sure seems like you want special treatment, it sure sounds like you would like a gold star at the end of the day just for being born. Get over yourself.

“Nice work and how about you sit down?”

I have a better idea, Ms. Lahren: How about you stop pretending you have any earthly idea what black Americans go through on a daily basis in this country and shut the hell up before you totally humiliate yourself.

Oops, too late for that.

Swing State Polls Show A Landslide Victory For One Presidential Candidate

The 2016 Presidential election will technically take place in all 50 states, but some 11 states are considered to be swing or battleground states, and that’s where the election will be most hotly contested and where it will ultimately be won.

The latest polling data from those key 11 states has some very good news for Hillary Clinton: She leads in seven of them by margins ranging from four to 17 points over Donald Trump. Such is the stuff landslides are made of.

Of the seven states surveyed by Ballotpedia, Clinton’s lead was slimmest in Iowa, where registered voters preferred her by just four points. Clinton’s biggest lead came in Michigan, where Trump has said he can definitely compete in November. Clinton leads the Trump in Michigan by 17 points, 50 percent to 33 percent.

Meanwhile the former Secretary of State also has leads in the states of Florida (14 points), Pennsylvania (14 points), and North Carolina (10 points) Clinton leads by nine points in Ohio and seven points in Virginia.

When respondents were offered another option–Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson–Clinton’s lead in the states shifted slightly. In a three-way race, Clinton’s lead among those surveyed shrank to three points in Iowa and six points in North Carolina. But with Johnson’s as an option, Clinton’s lead actually grew to 15 points Pennsylvania and eight points in Virginia.

The presumptive Democratic nominee also got good news today from statistical guru Nate Silver, who said that Clinton has a 79 percent chance of being the next President of the United States. Trump has a 20 percent chance of reaching the White House:

Silver compared the election a football game, remarking:

“We’re at halftime of the election right now. She’s taking a 7-point, maybe a 10-point lead into halftime. There’s a lot of football left to be played. She’s ahead in almost every poll, every swing state, every national poll.”

It should be noted that Silver called 49 states correctly in the 2008 presidential election and got all 50 right in 2012.

President Obama Was Asked If Brexit Means Trump Will Win; His Reply Will Delight You (Video)

Ever since the Brexit vote in Great Britain last week, Donald Trump has been saying that the results of the referendum prove he’s on the right side of history and that it’s a harbinger of great things to come for him in November. Trump even said that Americans will be able to reject “the global elite” in the general election.

That notion was pitched to President Obama yesterday during an interview with NPR, and the President wasted no time making Trump look even dumber than he usually does. Obama said:

“Mr. Trump embodies global elites and has taken full advantage of it his entire life. So, he’s hardly a spokesperson, a legitimate spokesperson for a populist surge of working-class people on either side of the Atlantic.”

The President also correctly noted that there were major differences between the forces which led to Brexit and the kind of nonsense Trump is trying to incite in the United States with his continual hate speech:

“The ability to tap into a fear that people may have about losing control and to offer some vague nostalgic feelings about how we’ll make Britain great again or we’ll make America great again, and the subtext for that is somehow that a bunch of foreigners and funny-looking people are coming in here and changing the basic character of the nation; I think that some of that is out there.”

While he was on the topic of Brexit and the uncertainty it has caused in worldwide financial markets, the President urged calm:

“I think that the best way to think about this is, a pause button has been pressed on the project of full European integration. I would not overstate it. There’s been a little bit of hysteria post-Brexit vote, as if somehow NATO’s gone, the trans-Atlantic alliance is dissolving, and every country is rushing off to its own corner. That’s not what’s happening.”

Thank goodness we have a rational, focused person like President Obama guiding this country during uncertain times. It sure beats the hello out of a screaming Cheeto-faced blowhard who looks like a vermin crawled atop his head and died.

Here’s the interview President Obama gave to NPR:

You Won’t Believe Just How Much Donald Trump Gave To Charity In 7 Years Time

Donald Trump is a bully and a braggart. To hear him tell it, he has the best of everything: the best hotel, the best clothes, the best itty bitty tiny hands ever seen on a man. And yet his multiple business failures–Trump steaks, Trump vodka, Trump publications, Trump University–would seem to suggest that the claims of greatness are little more than hot air, which he has an abundance of.

Having said that, you would probably expect that man who says he’s worth $10 billion (but won’t release his tax returns to prove it) would be quite generous when it comes to what he gives to charity. But you would be wrong.

The Washington Post did an in-depth investigation of Trump’s donations over a seven-year period, and they found all of one contribution to the Police Athletic League in 2009. The amount of that donation was between $5,000 and $9,999. Other than that, no other charitable gifts show up in a period which stretches from 2008 until May of this year. So let’s call it $10,000 over seven years. That averages out to about $1,428 a year. How’s that for generous?

Now, it should be noted that Trump has indeed given millions–$3.8 million to be exact–through his foundation, but that money was dispersed over a 15 year period. For comparison, hedge-fund founder Stanley Druckenmiller, who is listed  just behind Trump on Forbes’s rankings of net worth, gave $120 million to his foundation in 2013 alone.

And yet, let’s consider what Trump himself has said on more than one occasion about just how generous he is:

When asked about the discrepancy between what Trump says and what the records say, Trump spokesperson Hope Hicks remarked:

“There’s no way for you to know or understand.”

Actually, Ms. Hicks, we know and understand perfectly: Donald Trump is a tightwad skinflint who feels only he and his family have a right to enjoy his wealth, and everyone else can piss off.

If you take the record all the way back to the 1980s, you see that Trump pledged to give away royalties from his first book to fight AIDS and multiple sclerosis. But he gave less to those causes than he did to his eldest daughter’s ballet school. How’s that for being one hell of a guy?

From 1987 to 1991, here’s a look at Trump’s giving to charity:

The total given via his foundation for that five-year period: $143,700.

And yet, whenever Trump is asked where the profits from one of his ventures will be going (because what does a billionaire need with a few extra million?), the response is always the same: To charity, of course. For example:

  • In 2008, Trump said that he would send proceeds from sales of Trump Super Premium Vodka to the Walter Reed Society, which helps wounded military personnel. John Pierce, one of the group’s board members, recalls receiving “a few hundred dollars.”
  • In 2011, Trump pledged to forgo his appearance fee for a televised “roast.” The Trump Foundation’s tax filings show a $400,000 donation from Comedy Central instead.

So, let’s sum this up in a few words that can be clearly understood, even by Trump’s brainless supporters: Donald Trump is a lying sack of human excrement who wants people to think he’s generous, but who cannot back up his claims. And this alone tells us all we need to know about this vile man. He isn’t fit to collect the garbage, let alone be President of the United States.
